Friday May 12, 2017 – Two Peterborough men facing numerous charges following incidents at Barnardo park

The Peterborough Police Service has arrested and charged two Peterborough men following incidents at Barnardo Park including a robbery and assault.

Robbery with Violence Arrests:
Two Peterborough men are facing numerous charges including robbery and assault after police responded to various incidents in the Barnardo Park area on Thursday night.

Between 8:15 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. on May 11, 2017 police received several calls regarding two men in the area of Barnardo Park at Shelbourne and McLennan Streets.

At approximately 8:10 p.m. the victims, two teenage males, were walking along the trail in the park when they were approached by two unknown men who asked them for money. During the incident one of the victims had water thrown on his face while the other victim was struck in the face and had his backpack stolen. The victims were able to leave the area.

Shortly after, another victim, a woman in her late 40’s, was walking her dog through Barnardo Park when she witnessed the same two males littering. When she attempted to confront the men she was assaulted and the males threatened her dog.

Following these incidents, police received another call regarding two men attempting to enter a vehicle parked in the driveway of a Shelbourne Street home.

Officers were dispatched to the area and found the two men in the driveway of a Hilliard Street residence.

As a result of the investigation the two men were arrested on scene. During a search officers located stolen property on the co-accused. Illicit drugs and a large amount of cash were also located on one of the accused.

Peter Michael Pople, 20, of Aylmer Street North, is charged with the following:

  • Robbery with violence
  • Robbery with theft
  • Assault with a weapon
  • Assault
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking (cocaine)
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
  • Possession of proceeds of crime under $5,000
  • Uttering threats to damage or injure animal
  • Theft under $5,000
  • Fail to comply with a probation order X4
  • Fail to comply with a recognizance

Corey Laine Beeke, 20, of Stewart Street, is charged with the following:

  • Robbery with violence
  • Robbery with theft
  • Assault X2
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
  • Uttering threats to damage or injure animal
  • Theft under $5,000
  • Obstruct peace officer (provided officers with false name)
  • Fail to comply with a probation order X3

The co-accused were held in custody and are scheduled to appear in court later today (May 12).

Break and Enter Arrests:
The Peterborough Police Service has arrested and charged two Keene residents after a Fraserville business had its company vehicles broken into and property stolen.

On May 11, 2017 at approximately 2:40 a.m. vehicles parked in a lot belonging to a County Road 28 business in Fraserville, Ontario were broken into. Once inside the vehicles various tools were stolen.

The incidents were reported to police and officers investigated. Later on May 11, 2017 information was received that persons were attempting to pawn the stolen items at a local pawn shop and had left the area in a vehicle.

Officers located the suspect vehicle and conducted a traffic stop in the area of Walker Avenue and Marsdale Drive. During a search of the vehicle some of the stolen property was recovered.

As a result of the investigation the following persons were arrested and charged:

Timothy Jason Day, 30, of Highway 28, Keene, is charged with:

  • Break and enter
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
  • Failing to comply with a probation order.

Brigitte Nicole Booth, 24, of Highway 28, Keene, is charged with:

  • Break and enter

The co-accused were held in custody and are scheduled to appear in court later today (May 12).

Possession of Prohibited Device Arrest:
Two Peterborough residents have been charged following a disturbance at a Stewart Street home.

On May 11, 2017 at approximately 11 p.m. officers were dispatched to a Stewart Street residence for a disturbance. When officers arrived one of the males was arrested to prevent a breach of the peace. The male is on conditions to keep the peace and be of good behaviour and is also on a weapons prohibition. Subsequently officers located a prohibited knife on the accused.

Tyler Martin Huffman, 22, of Rubidge Street, is charged with the following:

  • Possession of prohibited device or ammunition
  • Possession of firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order X3
  • Fail to comply with the conditions of an undertaking
  • Fail to comply with a probation order

The accused was held in custody and is scheduled to appear in court later today (May 12).

During the disturbance a glass door at the residence was smashed. As a result of the investigation the following person was also arrested:

Ryan Michael Westcott, 21, of McDonnel Street, is charged with the following:

  • Mischief under $5,000

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on June 1, 2017.

Warrant Arrest:
A 40-year-old Peterborough man has been arrested on a warrant after an apartment door was smashed at a McDonnel Street apartment building.

On April 22, 2017 at approximately 9:15 p.m. the complainant called police to report a man who was attempting to gain access to a McDonnnel Street apartment building and in the process had broken a door at the main entrance.

On May 9, 2017 a warrant was issued for the arrest of Dwayne Ike Drury, 40, of Bellevue Street, for mischief under $5,000.

On May 11, 2017 an officer on bike patrol located the accused walking in the area of Murray and Bethune Streets. The accused was placed under arrest on the warrant and released on a promise to appear with a June 1, 2017 court date.
