Special Media Release: Several persons charged following human trafficking and drug related investigation

Five persons have been charged following a human trafficking and drug related investigation involving a teenaged female from the Durham Region brought to Peterborough, Whitby and other GTA motels to perform sexual acts for money.

As a result of an ongoing and joint investigation, investigators with the Durham Regional Police Service’s Gun and Gang Unit and Human Trafficking Unit and the Peterborough Police Service initially arrested two suspects last week.

One of the males, who operates under the name ‘Shiloh’, befriended the female victim and introduced her to a male nicknamed ‘Turtle/Uncle’. They convinced her to work in the sex trade. They posted an online advertisement for the female’s sexual services, obtained hotel rooms and the males began to arrange for customers to attend and engage in sexual activity with the victim in exchange for money.

Upon arrest, ‘Turtle/Uncle’ was found in possession of 63 grams of cocaine, 21 grams of crack and more than $3,500 in cash on his person.

Subsequently two search warrants were executed in connection to this investigation; one in Durham and one in Peterborough.

A Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) search warrant was executed by the Peterborough Police Service’s Drug Unit and Emergency Response Team at a Talwood Court address. During the search warrant $6,000 in Canadian currency and cocaine were located. The following persons were arrested and charged:

Angelica Wright, 28, of Brenyon Way, Scarborough, is charged with:

  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking (cocaine)
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime over $5,000

Wright was held in custody and has appeared in court.

Robert Kenneth Primeau, 55, of Talwood Court, Peterborough is charged with:

  • Possession of a schedule I substance (cocaine)
  • Unauthorized possession of weapon (knife)

Primeau was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on May 25, 2017.

Jennifer Lynn Bergman, 52, of Talwood Court, Peterborough, is charged with:

  • Possession of a schedule I substance (cocaine)

Bergman was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on May 25, 2017.

The Durham Regional Police Service executed a CDSA search warrant at a Westcreek Drive residence in Pickering where two replica handguns were located and ammunition.

Oral Richards, a.k.a. ‘Shiloh’, age 27 of McQuay Boulevard in Whitby and Terrell Ochrym, a.k.a. ‘Turtle/Uncle’, age 38 of Westcreek Drive in Pickering have both been charged with the following:

  • Obtain sexual services for consideration under 18
  • Procuring/recruit person under 18 to provide sexual services
  • Material benefit from sexual services from person under 18
  • Procuring/exercise control over person under 18
  • Exercise control over person under 18
  • Advertising another person’s sexual services
  • Distribute child pornography
  • Householder permit sexual activity of a person under 18 years

Ochrym faces an additional charge of possession cocaine for the purpose of trafficking.

Both males were held for a bail hearing.
