Tuesday May 9, 2017 – Peterborough man charged with domestic assault

The Peterborough Police Service has arrested and charged a 28-year-old man with domestic assault following a Monday night incident.

Domestic Assault Arrest:
A 28-year-old Peterborough man has been charged with domestic assault following a Monday evening incident.

On May 8, 2017 the accused and the victim, a woman in her 20’s, became involved in a verbal dispute near a Peterborough parking lot. During the dispute it was reported that the accused assaulted the victim.

Police were called and officers attended the area. As a result of the investigation the accused was arrested and charged with domestic assault. During the arrest an amount of marijuana was located on the accused. He is also charged with possession of a schedule II substance (marijuana under 30g).

The accused was held in custody and is scheduled to appear in court later today (May 9).

The name of the accused will not be released in order to protect the identity of the victim in this domestic incident.

Break and Enter: Hunter Street West
The Peterborough Police Service is looking for suspects following a break-in at a Hunter Street West restaurant.

Shortly before midnight on May 7, 2017 the complainant was inside the establishment when they noticed an unknown male behind the bar area. The restaurant was closed at the time but a door was left insecure. When the complainant saw the man he fled the restaurant on foot. During the incident a small amount of cash was stolen.

The male is described as approximately 6’ tall, muscular, very short hair, wearing a black jacket.
