Thursday August 31, 2017 – Peterborough man charged following robbery on Charlotte Street

Robbery with Weapon Arrest:
A 24-year-old Peterborough man has been arrested on a warrant following a robbery with a weapon.

On August 25, 2017 at approximately 3:20 p.m. police were dispatched to the area of Charlotte Street for a robbery. It was reported that while the victim, a man in his 20’s, was in the area earlier that day the accused brandished a syringe, threatened to destroy his property and robbed him of a large amount of cash. The victim and the accused know each other.

Through the investigation the accused was identified and on August 29, 2017 a warrant was issued for his arrest. On August 30, 2017 at approximately 7:50 p.m. the accused was located walking in the area of George Street North where he was arrested on the warrant.

Randy Lee Vilneff, 24, of Lansdowne Street East, is charged with:

  • Robbery with a weapon
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Uttering threats – damage property
  • Fail to comply with a probation order

The accused was held in custody and is scheduled to appear in court later today (Aug. 31).

Break and Enter Arrests:
Three Peterborough teens are facing charges after portables at a local elementary school were broken into and school supplies stolen.

At approximately 12:30 a.m. on August 30, 2017 portables located at a City of Peterborough public elementary school were entered and various school supplies stolen.

Police were dispatched to the scene via an alarm call. Once on scene officers located the three accused.

As a result of the investigation the following persons were arrested and charged:

A 13-year-old Peterborough male is charged with:

  • Break and enter
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
  • Fail to comply with a sentence

The youth was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on September 25, 2017. Under the Youth Criminal Justice Act the name of a young person cannot be released.

Brayden Nolan, 18, of George Street North, is charged with the following:

  • Break and enter
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on September 21, 2017.

Nicholas John Buckingham, 18, of Parkhill Road West, is charged with the following:

  • Break and enter
  • Possession of break-in instruments

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on September 21, 2017.
