Wednesday August 2, 2017 – Peterborough man facing additional fraud charges, police believe there may be more victims

Fraud Investigation:
A 29-year-old Peterborough man is facing additional fraud charges after several more victims came forward to police.

Through further investigation it was revealed that between January 2017 and July 2017 the accused defrauded several other persons he knows of postsecondary tuition funds and also convinced several of the victims to pay into an investment scam.

As a result of the investigation Gaurav Paul, 29, of Applewood Crescent, Peterborough, is additionally charged with fraud under $5,000 X4.

The investigation is ongoing. Police believe there may still be other victims and are encouraging anyone with similar concerns to come forward and call the Peterborough Police Service at 705-876-1122 Detective Constable Reesor ext. 293 or Detective Constable Calderwood ext. 214.

Utter Threats Arrest:
The Peterborough Police Service has arrested and charged a 24-year-old woman following an incident at a multi unit residence on Stewart Street.

On August 1, 2017 at approximately 2:40 p.m. the accused became involved in a verbal altercation with the three victims, two females and a male. During the altercation it was reported that the accused entered the victim’s unit uninvited and threatened the victims. Police were contacted and officers attended the residence.

As a result of the investigation Jessica Rochelle Forsyth, 24, of Stewart Street, is charged with uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm, unlawfully in a dwelling house and failing to comply with a probation order.

The accused was held in custody and is scheduled to appear in court later today (Aug. 2).
