Wednesday August 30, 2017 – Ajax man facing additional charge of robbery using firearm

Robbery Using Firearm – Additional Charge:
An Ajax man is facing an additional charge following a July robbery with a handgun.

At approximately 1:20 a.m. on July 23, 2017 the victim, a man in his 20’s, was walking in the area of Park Street and Hopkins Avenue when he was approached by unknown males who robbed him of his cellphone and chain necklace. During the incident one of the males brandished a handgun.

Through the investigation one of the males was identified. The male is currently in custody in relation to an August 19, 2017 robbery in the area of George and Charlotte Streets.

James Alexander Park, 28, of Tansley Crescent, Ajax, Ontario, is further charged with robbery using firearm. The additional charge will be read in court today (Aug. 31).

Break and Enter:
The Peterborough Police Service is investigating following a break-in at a Stewart Street home.

On August 28, 2017 at approximately 4 a.m. a male and his friends were watching television at his Stewart Street home when they heard a knock at the rear door. When the male went to check the door an unknown male forced the door open, stepped inside the room and sprayed what appears to be pepper spray. The unknown male then fled the residence. One of the victims called 9-1-1 and police attended.
The suspect is described as:

  • Male
  • Slim build
  • 5’10” to 6’
  • Wearing a black balaclava, black hoody and jeans

Theft Arrest:
A 25-year-old Peterborough man has been charged with theft following a Tuesday afternoon incident.

On August 29, 2017 at approximately 1:30 p.m. a witness saw a male attempting to enter vehicles parked in an Aylmer Street parking lot. When confronted the male fled the area.

The witness contacted police and provided a description of the suspicious male. Officers were dispatched to the area and a short time later located a male in the area of Rubidge and Sherbrooke Streets that matched the description.

As a result of the investigation Micah David Drynan, 25, of Stewart Street, was arrested and charged with theft under $5,000 and fail to comply with a probation order.

The accused was held in custody and is scheduled to appear in court later today (Aug. 30).
