Assault with a Weapon Arrest:
A 30-year-old Peterborough woman is facing assault with a weapon and assault charges following incidents earlier in September.

On September 17, 2017 police received information regarding three assaults that had taken place earlier in the month.

It was reported that on September 10, 2017 the accused and the victim, a woman in her 30’s, had become involved in an altercation during which time the victim was assaulted and struck with a rubber mallet. It was also reported that on September 11, 2017 the accused assaulted the victim two more times. The accused and victim know each other.

At approximately 7:25 p.m. on September 17, 2017 officers attended a Peterborough residence where, as a result of the investigation, the accused was arrested and charged.

Shawna Ann Procter, 30, of Wolfe Street, is charged with assault with a weapon and assault X2.

The accused was held in custody and is scheduled to appear in court later today (Sept. 18).

Assault Arrests:
Four men from Courtice, Ontario, have been charged with assault following a weekend incident at a multi unit residence in Peterborough’s north end.

At approximately 8:15 a.m. on September 17, 2017 several officers were dispatched to a multi unit residence on Milroy Drive for reports of four males assaulting one of the residents, a male in his 20’s. The victim knows one of the males involved in the incident.

Police located all four accused still in the area and as a result of the investigation all four parties were arrested and charged.

  • Vasyl Popadyn, 27, of Caleche Avenue, Courtice, is charged with assault.
  • Michael MacMillan, 25, of Sandringham Drive, Courtice, is charged with assault.
  • Derrick Crossey, 30, of Huntington Crescent, Courtice, is charged with assault.
  • Bronson LaChance, 23, of Fieldcrest Avenue, Courtice, is charged with assault.

All four accused were released from custody and are scheduled to appear in court on October 26, 2017.

Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose Arrest:
The Peterborough Police Service has arrested and charged a 23-year-old man following an incident involving a knife.

On September 16, 2017 at approximately 11:15 a.m. police were dispatched to the area of Rubidge and Sherbrooke Streets for a disturbance.

It was reported that while in the area the accused had become involved in a dispute with an unknown male and had brandished a knife.

Officers located the accused in the area of Bethune and King Streets where, as a result of the investigation, he was arrested and charged. During the investigation police seized a folding style knife.

Curtis Arthur Chrysler, 23, of no fixed address, Peterborough, is charged with possession of weapon for dangerous purpose and fail to comply with a probation order.

The accused appeared in weekend and statutory holiday court on September 17, 2017, was remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear again in court on October 2, 2017 via video appearance.

Assault Arrest:
The Peterborough Police Service has arrested and charged a 45-year-old Peterborough man with assault following a Saturday evening incident.

On the night of September 16, 2017 police were dispatched to the area of Rutherford Drive for a disturbance. When police arrived it was reported that the male accused had assaulted the victim, a woman in her 20’s, and then fled on foot. The accused and victim know each other.

A short time later officers located the accused underneath the deck in the backyard of a Wolfe Street residence.

As a result of the investigation Mark Anthony Hale, 45, of McDonnel Street, was arrested and charged with assault and fail to comply with a probation order.

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on October 12, 2017.

Break and Enter: Armour
The Peterborough Police Service is investigating a break-in at an Armour Road residence.

Sometime between 8:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. on September 8, 2017 unknown persons entered an Armour Road apartment that was left insecure. Once inside the thieves stole thousands of dollars of property including an iPod, an embroidery machine, camera, laptop, jewellery and tools. The theft was reported to police on September 15, 2017.
