Sept. 23 – 25, 2017 – Peterborough woman facing charges following police pursuit and traffic stop where meth and cocaine seized

Drug/Flight While Pursued by Peace Officer Arrest:
A 36-year-old Peterborough woman is facing charges following a police pursuit and traffic stop where officers seized meth and cocaine.

Shortly after midnight on September 24, 2017 officers on patrol saw a vehicle with stolen licence plates heading east on Dalhousie Street.

Officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop but the accused failed to pull over. After a more than two kilometre police pursuit the accused pulled the vehicle into the driveway of a Dalhousie Street home.

During the subsequent search and investigation the accused was found to be in possession of cocaine and crystal methamphetamine. Through the investigation it was revealed that the licence plates and a wallet found in the vehicle were stolen. It was also revealed that the accused is wanted on a warrant for failing to attend court on previous charges and is also a suspended driver.

As a result of the investigation Nicole Margaret Menard, 36, of no fixed address, Peterborough, was arrested and charged with the following:

  • Flight while pursued by peace officer
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000 X2
  • Possession of a schedule I substance (Cocaine)
  • Possession of a schedule I substance (Methamphetamine)

The accused was also charged with various offences under the Highway Traffic Act including driving while under suspension and operating a motor vehicle without insurance.

The accused appeared in weekend and statutory holiday court on September 24, 2017, was remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear again in court later today (Sept. 25).

Assault with a Weapon Arrest:
The Peterborough Police Service has arrested and charged a 24-year-old male following a weekend assault involving a knife.

On the morning of September 24, 2017 the accused became involved in a verbal dispute with the victim, a male in his 50’s, outside a Parkhill Road West multi unit residence. During the dispute it was reported that the accused brandished a knife and assaulted the victim. The two men know each other.

The incident was reported to police and officers and EMS attended the scene. The victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment to injuries which appear minor in nature.

A short time later officers located the accused at a Chemong Road plaza parking lot where, as a result of the investigation, he was placed under arrest. While at the police station the accused threatened an officer.

Brandon William Brown, 24, of Parkhill Road West, is charged with the following:

  • Assault with a weapon
  • Uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm
  • Fail to comply with a probation order

The accused was held in custody and is scheduled to appear in court later today (Sept. 25).

Theft Arrest:
A 39-year-old Peterborough man is facing several theft charges following a weekend incident at a Lansdowne Street West store.

On September 23, 2017 police received a call to attend the Lansdowne Street West LCBO in relation to a shoplifter that was attempting to flee the custody of a loss prevention officer.

Police attended the store and located the male accused, where as a result of the investigation, he was placed under arrest for theft. Through the investigation it was revealed that the male was connected to five other theft incidents that occurred in August 2017.

As a result of the investigation Adrien Joseph Gervais, 39, of George Street, is charged with the following:

  • Theft under $5,000 X6
  • Fail to comply with a probation order X6

The accused appeared in weekend and statutory holiday court on September 24, 2017, was remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear again in court later today (Sept. 25).

Assault with a Weapon Arrest:
A Peterborough teen is facing charges including assault with a weapon and forcible confinement following an incident involving her mother.

On September 22, 2017 the accused, a female teenager, was at her Peterborough home with the victim, her mother, when it was reported that she brandished a hammer, threatened the victim and prevented the victim from leaving the residence.

Police were contacted by a third party and officers attended the residence.

As a result of the investigation the accused was arrested at the scene and charged with the following:

  • Assault with a weapon
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Forcible confinement
  • Uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm

The accused appeared in weekend and statutory holiday court on September 23, 2017, was remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear again in court later today (Sept. 25).

Under the Youth Criminal Justice Act the name of a young person cannot be released. Also, due to the domestic nature of the incident the name of the accused will not be released.

Domestic Assault Arrest:
A Peterborough man has been charged after a weekend incident where his stepson was assaulted.

On September 22, 2017 the accused, a 52-year-old man, was at a Peterborough residence with the victim, his teenage stepson, when it was reported that the accused assaulted and threatened the victim.

Police and EMS attended the residence. The victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment to his injuries.

As a result of the investigation the accused was arrested and charged with assault and uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm.

The accused appeared in weekend and statutory holiday court on September 23, 2017, was remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear again in court later today (Sept. 25).

The name of the accused will not be released in order to protect the identity of the victim in this domestic-related incident.

Domestic Assault Arrest:
A Peterborough teen is facing domestic assault charges following two incidents in September.

The accused and the victim, a teenage female, were in a previous domestic relationship that came to an end.

On the evening of September 14, 2017 the accused and victim were outside a McDonnel Street convenience store when they became involved in a verbal dispute. During the dispute it was reported that the accused assaulted the victim. On the morning of September 15, 2017 it was reported that the accused approached the victim while she was in a parked vehicle and again assaulted her. The two incidents were reported to police and officers investigated.

On September 15, 2017 the accused attended the police station where, as a result of the investigation, she was placed under arrest and charged with domestic assault X2.

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on October 16, 2017.
