Sexual Assault Arrest:
A 29-year-old Peterborough man has been charged with sexual assault following an investigation.

On September 9, 2017 police received information regarding a sexual assault that had occurred earlier in the month.

It was reported that while the victim, a woman in her 20’s, and the accused were at a Peterborough residence the accused sexually assaulted the victim. The victim and accused were in a previous domestic relationship.

As a result of the investigation on September 9, 2017 the accused was arrested at a Peterborough residence and charged with sexual assault.

The accused appeared in weekend and statutory holiday court on September 10, 2017, was remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear again in court later today (Sept. 11).

The name of the accused will not be released in order to protect the identity of the victim in this domestic incident.

Impaired Arrest:
The Peterborough Police Service has arrested and charged a 56-year-old man with operating a power-assisted bicycle while impaired and over the legal limit of alcohol.

On September 7, 2017 at approximately 11:15 a.m. an officer on patrol saw a male with a child seated between his legs operating a power-assisted bicycle east on Charlotte Street.

The officer conducted a traffic stop to determine the age of the child as children under 16 years of age are not permitted to ride on, drive or operate a motor assisted bicycle or power-assisted bicycle on a highway.

While speaking with the male driver the officer noted an odour of an alcoholic beverage coming from the driver’s breath. A subsequent breath sample revealed the driver had almost twice the legal limit of alcohol in his system. Through the investigation it was also revealed the male is a prohibited driver.

As a result of the investigation Donald Albert Marshall, 56, of Stewart Street, was arrested and charged with impaired driving and operating a motor vehicle with more than 80mg blood alcohol content. The driver was also charged under section 38 (2) of the Highway Traffic Act with operating a power-assisted bicycle with a child passenger under 16 years of age.

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on October 5, 2017.

Impaired Arrest:
A 26-year-old Peterborough man is facing charges including impaired driving following a weekend traffic stop.

At approximately 1:30 a.m. on September 9, 2017 an officer observed a vehicle driving erratically in the area of Aylmer and McDonnel Streets and conducted a traffic stop. While speaking with the male driver of the vehicle the officer noted a strong odour of alcohol coming from the driver’s breath. A breath sample revealed the driver had more than the legal limit of alcohol in his system.

As a result of the investigation Daniel Mark Kogucinski, 26, of Parkhill Road West, was arrested and charged with impaired driving and operating a motor vehicle with more than 80mg blood alcohol content. The driver was served with a notice of vehicle impoundment and a notice of a 90 day licence suspension.

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on October 5, 2017.

Care or Control Arrest:
The Peterborough Police Service has arrested and charged a 31-year-old Hastings man with having care or control over a vehicle while impaired by alcohol.

On September 10, 2017 at approximately 11:20 p.m. police located a male asleep in the driver’s seat of a parked vehicle at the top of Armour Hill in Peterborough.

After waking the driver, a subsequent breath sample revealed the driver had more than twice the legal limit of alcohol in his system.

As a result of the investigation Steven Allan Urquhart, 31, of Darnley Street, Hastings, was arrested and charged with care or control while impaired (alcohol) and care or control over 80mg. The driver was also issued a 90 day licence suspension.

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on October 5, 2017.

Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose Arrest:
A 22-year-old Peterborough man is facing charges after a metal pipe was brandished during an altercation on Brock Street.

On September 10, 2017 at approximately 7 p.m. police received several 9-1-1 calls about a disturbance outside a multi-unit residence on Brock Street.

It was reported that while a male in his 30’s attempted to confront a reportedly intoxicated and unwanted male in the area the two became involved in a physical altercation. The altercation ended and a short time later the male suspect returned to the area brandishing a metal pipe toward the victim. The male suspect then left the area. The two men do not know each other.

Officers were dispatched to the area and a short time later located the male suspect walking in the area of Brock and Chambers Street.

As a result of the investigation Dylan Herman Gifford, 22, of no fixed address, Peterborough, was arrested and charged with possession of weapon for dangerous purpose, fail to comply with the conditions of an undertaking and fail to comply with a probation order.

The accused was held in custody and is scheduled to appear in court later today (Sept. 11).

Mischief Arrest:
A 23-year-old Peterborough man has been charged with mischief after damage was caused to property at a Brock Street address.

On September 10, 2017 at approximately 2 a.m. police were called to a Brock Street address for a male who had damaged property inside the residence including a window and computer equipment.

As a result of the investigation Luke Diamond Larigee, 23, of Brock Street, was arrested and charged with mischief under $5,000 and failing to comply with a probation order.

The accused appeared in weekend and statutory holiday court on September 10, 2017, was remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear again in court later today (Sept. 11).

Domestic Assault Arrest:
The Peterborough Police Service has arrested and charged a 34-year-old man with assault following a domestic incident.

On the morning of September 10, 2017 the victim, a woman in her 30’s, and the accused, a 34-year-old Peterborough man, became involved in an argument at their Peterborough residence.

During the argument it was reported that the accused assaulted the victim including striking her in the head and grabbing her arm. A third party contacted police and officers attended the residence.

As a result of the investigation the accused was arrested and charged with domestic assault X2, fail to comply with a probation order X2 and fail to comply with the conditions of an undertaking.

The accused was held in custody and is scheduled to appear in court later today (Sept. 11).

Domestic Assault Arrest:
A 22-year-old Peterborough man has been charged with domestic assault following a weekend incident.

The victim, a woman in her 20’s, and the accused, a 22-year-old man, are currently in a domestic relationship.

On September 10, 2017 at approximately 3:20 a.m. police received information regarding a domestic assault at a Peterborough home. It was reported that during a dispute the accused assaulted the victim including pushing her to the ground and striking her in the head several times.

Officers attended the residence where they located both the victim and the accused.

As a result of the investigation the accused was arrested and charged with domestic assault. The accused appeared in weekend and statutory holiday court on September 10, 2017, was released from custody and is scheduled to appear again in court on September 21, 2017.
