A 47-year-old Peterborough woman is facing charges following a traffic stop in a Lakefield restaurant parking lot.
On September 3, 2017 at approximately 10 a.m. police attended a fast food restaurant on Bridge Street in Lakefield after receiving a complaint about an irate person who was possibly impaired by alcohol.
Officers located the woman inside a vehicle as it was pulling away and a traffic stop was conducted. While speaking with the driver officers noted an odour of an alcoholic beverage coming from the driver’s breath.
An initial roadside breath sample registered a “fail” and the driver was arrested for having more than the legal limit of alcohol in her system while operating a motor vehicle.
The driver was transported to the Peterborough Police station where a breath demand was issued and the driver continuously failed to properly provide a sample after several warnings.
As a result of the investigation Sherry Ann Christian, 47, of Talwood Drive, Peterborough, is charged with operating a motor vehicle with more than 80mg blood alcohol content and fail or refuse to provide a breath sample.
The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on October 5, 2017.
