Thursday September 28, 2017 – Peterborough man charged with aggravated assault following incident in Victoria Park

A 33-year-old Peterborough man has been charged with aggravated assault following a physical altercation in a local park.

At approximately 1:30 a.m. on September 27, 2017 police and EMS attended Victoria Park in the City of Peterborough for an injured male. During a physical altercation between the accused and the 24-year-old male victim, who know each other, the victim sustained a stab wound. The victim was taken to a Toronto-based hospital with serious injuries.

On the afternoon of September 27, 2017 the accused was located in the area of George and Simcoe Streets, where he was taken into custody.

As a result of the investigation Clayton Ray Anness, 33, of Water Street, is charged with the following:

  • Aggravated assault
  • Fail to comply with a probation order

The accused was held in custody and is scheduled to appear in court later today (Sept. 28).
