Theft of Motor Vehicle Arrest:
A 34-year-old Peterborough woman is facing theft charges following an investigation involving a stolen U-Haul.

On September 12, 2017 police received a call from the U-Haul head office in Toronto reporting that one of their rental trucks had been stolen. It was reported that the vehicle, rented on August 17, 2017 in Peterborough and due back the next day, was never returned on time and the customer failed to make any further payments.

Later on September 12, 2017 police were contacted regarding a suspicious vehicle containing two occupants at a convenience store in the area of Orpington Road and Monaghan Road.

When officers arrived they located a female driver and male passenger inside the missing U-Haul.

As a result of the investigation Carolyn Ann McDonald, 34, of no fixed address, Peterborough, was arrested and charged with theft of motor vehicle. The male passenger was released unconditionally.

The accused was held in custody and is scheduled to appear in court later today (Sept. 13).
