Friday October 27, 2017 – Peterborough man charged with assault and mischief following domestic incident

Assault Arrest:
On October 27, 2017 the Peterborough Police responded to a West end residence regarding a female screaming inside. Investigation revealed that a male and female were in a verbal dispute which turned physical. The accused had forcefully taken a cell phone from the victim and damaged it. The accused then assaulted the female.

As a result a 22 year old male from Peterborough was arrested and charged with assault and mischief under $5,000. The accused appeared before bail court on October 27, 2017.

The name of the accused will not be released in order to protect the identity of the victim in this domestic incident.

Assault Arrest:
On September 30,2017, the victim and his family had attended an event at a Lansdowne St. address. While standing outside after the event the victim was assaulted by the accused.

Investigation revealed that the accused was from out of town and a warrant was subsequently issued for their arrest. On the 26th October 2017 the accused attended the Peterborough Police station and was taken into custody on the outstanding warrant.

Charged with assault is Matthew Thompson, 41, of Connaught Line, Barrie, Ontario. The accused was released from custody and will appear in court on November 23, 2017.

Criminal harassment Arrest:
The Peterborough Police commenced an investigation after a female came forward regarding concerning behaviour form her former partner.

Investigation revealed that the accused had attended the victim’s residence on numerous occasions and would leave items behind. It was also learned that the accused caused damage to a vehicle parked at the residence and to the residence itself.

As a result of the investigation on October 24, 2017 the accused, a 45 year old male from Peterborough, was arrested and charged with criminal harassment and mischief under $5,000 X2. The accused was released from custody and will appear in court on November 16, 2017.

The name of the accused will not be released in order to protect the identity of the victim in this domestic incident.
