Oct. 7 – 10, 2017 – Peterborough man charged with sexual assault on female under 16 years of age

Sexual Assault/Sexual Interference Arrest:
A 24-year-old Peterborough man is facing charges including sexual assault on a person under 16 years of age following an investigation.

On October 7, 2017 police received a call regarding a sexual assault and began an investigation. It was reported that while the accused was at a Peterborough residence visiting a person whom he knows a female in the home under 16 years of age was sexually assaulted.

As a result of the investigation on October 7, 2017 Raymond Samual Wilson, 24, of Murray Street, was arrested and charged with the following:

  • Sexual interference with a person under 16 years of age
  • Sexual assault on a person under 16 years of age
  • Fail to comply with a prohibition regarding children
  • Fail to comply with a probation order

The accused appeared in weekend and statutory holiday court on October 8, 2017 was remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear again in court later today (Oct. 10).

Impaired/Dangerous Driving Arrest:
The Peterborough Police Service has arrested and charged a 52-year-old man with impaired driving and dangerous driving following a Friday night investigation.

At approximately 8:45 p.m. on October 6, 2017 police were called to the area of Monaghan Road and Lansdowne Street in response to a vehicle driving erratically in a commercial parking lot and almost hitting the building.

Additional information was provided that the same vehicle had been involved in a collision in the parking lot of a Lansdowne Street East motel and had also been seen striking vehicles in a fast food restaurant parking lot at The Parkway and Lansdowne Street.

During this time police received multiple calls for service regarding the accused’s driving actions.

Shortly after 9 p.m. police located the suspect vehicle on Clonsilla Avenue where it had crossed the road and struck a curb coming to a stop at a private driveway. Officers observed a single male occupant exit the driver’s seat. Through the subsequent investigation it was determined the male was impaired by both alcohol and drugs.

As a result of the investigation Charles Lanford Reid, 52, of McDonnel Street, was arrested and charged with the following:

  • Impaired driving (Alcohol and Drug)
  • Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle
  • Take motor vehicle without consent

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear again in court on November 2, 2017.

Over 80mg Arrest:
A 25-year-old Cavan Monaghan man has been arrested and charged following an investigation involving a car driving the wrong way down a one way street in Peterborough.

At approximately 12:55 a.m. on October 1, 2017 officers on patrol in the area of George and Sherbrooke Streets saw a car heading north on George Street jump a median and then continue driving the wrong way on the one way street.

Officers conducted a traffic stop on Water Street and through the investigation and subsequent breath sample it was determined the male driver had more than the legal limit of alcohol in his system while operating a motor vehicle.

As a result of the investigation James Joseph Cormier, 25, of Moncrief Line, Cavan Monaghan, was arrested and charged with operating a motor vehicle with more than 80mg blood alcohol content.

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on October 19, 2017.

Mischief Arrest:
A 19-year-old Peterborough man has been charged with mischief after a window to a downtown store was smashed.

On September 24, 2017 at approximately 3:10 a.m. a male punched the front window to a George Street North clothing store causing the window to break. The male suspect was located a short time later at the intersection of Hunter and Aylmer Streets.

As a result of the investigation Isaiah Mackenzie Beardy, 19, of Stewart Street, was arrested and charged with mischief under $5,000.

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on October 19, 2017.
