Thursday October 12, 2017 – Peterborough man facing charges after stolen banking cards used at local convenience store

Fraud Arrest:
A 47-year-old Peterborough man is facing charges including fraud and possession of property obtained by crime after stolen banking cards were used at a local convenience store.

Sometime between 11 p.m. on October 7, 2017 and 12:45 p.m. on October 8, 2017 unknown person(s) entered a locked vehicle parked in a Burnham Street parking lot. Once inside several items were stolen including a wallet containing banking cards. The banking cards were then fraudulently used at a local convenience store.

Through the investigation the male suspect was identified. On October 11, 2017 at approximately 1:30 a.m. an officer on patrol located the male suspect walking in the area of George and Charlotte Streets.

As a result of the investigation Carl James Hubbell, 47, of Murray Street, was arrested and charged with the following:

  • Fraud under $5,000
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
  • Fail to comply with a probation order

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on October 26, 2017.
