Tuesday October 17, 2017 – Peterborough man charged with assault following domestic dispute

Domestic Assault Arrest:
A 58-year-old Peterborough man has been charged with assault following a Monday night domestic dispute.

On the night of October 16, 2017 the accused and victim became involved in a verbal dispute while at a Peterborough residence. During the dispute it was reported that the accused struck the victim, a woman in her 50’s, in the face and then fled the home. Police were called and attended the residence. A short time later officers located the accused walking in the area of Water Street.

As a result of the investigation the accused was arrested and charged with domestic assault. He was held in custody and is scheduled to attend court later today (Oct. 17).

The name of the accused will not be released in order to protect the identity of the victim in this domestic incident.

Assault Arrest:
The Peterborough Police Service has charged a Cavan Monaghan man with assault following an incident in early October.

On October 6, 2017 police were dispatched to a residence in Cavan Monaghan for an assault call. It was reported that during a verbal altercation between the accused and the victim, a man in his 20’s, the victim was struck numerous times in the head. The accused and victim know each other.

As a result of the investigation Terry James Williams, 42, of Valleyview Drive, Cavan Monaghan, was arrested and charged with assault.

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on November 2, 2017.

Domestic Assault Arrest:
A 32-year-old Peterborough man has been charged with assault following a late September incident.

On September 27, 2017 the accused and victim became involved in an argument while at their Peterborough residence. During the argument it was reported that the accused assaulted the victim, a woman in her 30’s, by grabbing her arm. The incident was later reported to police on October 13, 2017.

As a result of the investigation on October 13, 2017 police attended a Peterborough residence where the accused was arrested and charged with domestic assault.

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on October 26, 2017.

The name of the accused will not be released in order to protect the identity of the victim in this domestic incident.

Assault Arrest:
The Peterborough Police Service has charged a 14-year-old male with assault after an incident on Friday night.

The accused, a 14-year-old Peterborough teen, is currently on conditions to have no communication with the victim, a teenage male, and to keep the peace and be of good behaviour.

On the night of October 13, 2017 the accused and victim were at a social function when the accused approached the victim and attempted to engage him in a fight. When the victim refused it was reported that the accused struck him in the face and continued to do so as the victim tried to leave the area. The accused and victim know each other. The incident was reported to police at which point the accused fled the area.

A warrant was issued for the arrest of the accused for the charges of assault, breach of probation and breach of an undertaking.

On October 14, 2017 the accused attended the Peterborough Police station where he was arrested on the warrant. The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on November 6, 2017.

Under the Youth Criminal Justice Act the name of a young person cannot be released.

Assault Arrest
A 16-year-old Peterborough teen has been charged with assault following a Friday afternoon incident.

Shortly after noon hour on October 13, 2017 the victim, a male teenager, and a friend were walking in the area of Hilliard Street when they were approached by the accused and his group of friends. It was reported that the accused then came towards the victim and struck him in the head. The accused and victim know each other. Police were called and EMS also attended. The victim was taken to a local hospital to have his injuries assessed.

As a result of the investigation the accused was arrested and charged with assault. The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on November 6, 2017.

Under the Youth Criminal Justice Act the name of a young person cannot be released.
