Tuesday October 24, 2017 – Peterborough man charged following break-in at downtown store

Break and Enter Arrest:
A 43-year-old Peterborough man has been charged following a break-in at a downtown store.

On October 24, 2017 at approximately 12:34 a.m. witnesses saw a male breaking into a George Street North shop and called police.

Officers attended the scene and at approximately 12:36 a.m. the male that matched the description provided was located in the area of Water and Hunter Streets.

As a result of the investigation Jason Marshall Neely, 43, of no fixed address, Peterborough, was arrested and charged with break and enter and fail to comply with a probation order X3.

Damage to the store front is estimated to be in excess of $1,000.

The accused was held in custody and is scheduled to appear in court on October 24, 2017.

Domestic Assault Arrest:
The Peterborough Police Service has charged a 35-year-old Colborne, Ontario man with domestic assault following a Monday night incident.

The accused and the victim, a woman in her 20’s, are currently in a domestic relationship. On the night of October 23, 2017 police received information from a third party reporting that while at a Peterborough residence the victim had been assaulted by the accused.

Officers attended the residence where they located both the accused and victim. As a result of the investigation the accused was arrested and charged with domestic assault.

The accused was released from custody on a promise to appear and is scheduled to appear in court on November 23, 2017.

The name of the accused will not be released in order to protect the identity of the victim in this domestic incident.

Criminal Harassment Arrest:
A 27-year-old Peterborough man has been charged with criminal harassment after making unwanted and repeated contact with his ex-partner.

The accused and victim, a woman in her 20’s, were in a previous domestic relationship. The accused was advised by police on October 19, 2017 that he was not to have any further contact with the victim.

Through the investigation it was revealed that between October 20, 2017 and October 23, 2017 the accused made repeated attempts to contact the victim by way of phone call, text message and email.

On October 23, 2017 officers attended the accused’s residence where, as a result of the investigation, he was arrested and charged with criminal harassment.

The accused was released from custody on a promise to appear and is scheduled to appear in court on November 16, 2017.

The name of the accused will not be released in order to protect the identity of the victim in this domestic incident.
