Wednesday October 18, 2017 – Trenton woman charged following investigation into theft of electronics

Theft Arrest:
A 31-year-old Trenton woman has been charged following an investigation into the theft of electronics from a Peterborough store.

At approximately 8:15 p.m. on August 27, 2017 a woman entered the Chemong Road Walmart with a man following shortly after, selected electronics off the shelves, concealed the items and then left the store without making any attempt to pay for the items. The total value of the theft is estimated at $950.

Through the investigation, which included the public dissemination of their photos, the female and male suspects were identified.

On October 16, 2017 the female suspect was arrested in Trenton, Ontario by the Quinte West OPP. Peterborough Police officers attended Trenton where they continued the arrest and transported the female accused back to Peterborough where she attended court on October 17, 2017.

As a result of the investigation Nicole Alyn Chan, 31, of Adrian Court, Trenton, is charged with the following:

  • Theft under $5,000
  • Fail to comply with a probation order X2

A warrant has been issued for the arrest of the male suspect. The name of the male suspect will be released once he is arrested on the warrant.

Domestic Assault Arrest:
Three Peterborough residents have been charged following a domestic incident on Tuesday night.

On October 17, 2017 officers on patrol were contacted by neighbours and passer-by’s regarding a domestic dispute taking place at a Peterborough residence.

It was reported that during an argument inside the residence the accused assaulted the victim, a 19-year-old Peterborough woman.

As a result of the investigation officers attempted to place the male under arrest during which time he resisted and assaulted an officer.

While attempting to speak with the victim the victim attempted to punch one of the officers.

At this time the mother of the male accused, a 52-year-old Peterborough woman, arrived on scene and interfered with the investigation and struck an officer in the face.

As a result of the investigation the following arrests were made:

A 25-year-old Peterborough man is charged with:

  • Domestic assault
  • Assault with intent to resist arrest
  • Mischief under $5,000 X2
  • Fail to comply with a probation order

A 19-year-old Peterborough woman is charged with:

  • Assault peace officer
  • Obstruct peace officer
  • Fail to comply with a probation order

A 52-year-old Peterborough woman is charged with:

  • Assault peace officer
  • Obstruct peace officer

All three parties were held in custody and are scheduled to appear in court later today (Oct. 18).

Due to the domestic nature of this incident and in order to protect the identity of the victim no names will be released.

Break-in: Walkerfield Avenue
The Peterborough Police Service is reminding residents to keep their doors locked after a break-in at a Walkerfield Avenue home.

Sometime between 11:30 p.m. on October 16, 2017 and 6:30 a.m. on October 17, 2017 unknown person(s) entered a Walkerfield Avenue home through an unlocked front door. Once inside thieves stole a MacBook Pro valued at $1,000.
