Wednesday October 4, 2017 – Peterborough teen charged with theft

Theft Arrest:
A Peterborough teen is facing charges including theft and breach of probation following an incident at a local retail outlet.

On September 24, 2017 the accused, a male teenager, attended a Peterborough store and proceeded to select merchandise from the shelves. The male then exited the store making no attempt to pay for the goods.

As a result of the investigation, on October 3, 2017 the accused was arrested at his residence and charged with the following offences:

  • Theft Under $5,000
  • Fail to Comply with Sentence (Keep the peace and be of good behaviour)

The accused was held in custody to attend Court on the same date.

Under the Youth Criminal Justice Act the name of a young person cannot be released.

Causing a Disturbance Arrest:
A 22-year-old Peterborough woman is facing charges in relation to a disturbance that occurred on October 2, 2017.

On the above date, members of the Peterborough Police Service attended an address in response to information that there was a female on site attempting to solicit fights with others persons. While interacting with the female, she proceeded to yell and swear at others.

As a result of the investigation, Karyna Carruthers, 22, of Aylmer Street, is charged with the following:

  • Causing a Disturbance
  • Fail to comply with a probation order

The accused was released on a Promise to Appear with a court date of October 19, 2017.
