Over 80mg Arrest:
A 31-year-old Bomanville resident has been charged following a single vehicle collision.

On November 12, 2017 at approximately 6:45 p.m. witnesses called police to report a white pick-up truck that was upside down in a ditch on Johnston Drive. Following the collision the driver fled the vehicle.

A short time later police located the driver in a parking lot in the area of Airport Road and Beardsmore Road. While speaking with the driver officers noticed the odour of an alcoholic beverage coming from the driver’s breath. A subsequent breath sample revealed the driver had more than twice the legal limit of alcohol in his system.

As a result of the investigation Owen Donald Caza, 31, of Flaxman Avenue, Bomanville, Ontario, was arrested and charged with operating a motor vehicle with more than 80mg blood alcohol content. The driver was also charged under section 200(1) of the Highway Traffic Act with fail to remain.

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on December 7, 2017.

Impaired/Over 80mg Arrest:
A Welland resident has been charged after having more than three times the legal limit of alcohol in their system and driving the wrong way down a one-way street in Peterborough.

Shortly after 2 a.m. on November 18, 2017 an officer on patrol saw a vehicle turn northbound onto southbound, one way, George Street. The officer conducted a traffic stop and while speaking with the driver of the vehicle noted an odour of alcohol coming from the vehicle.

A subsequent breath sample revealed the driver had more than three times the legal limit of alcohol in their system.

As a result of the investigation Shannon Leigh Doherty, 32, of Line Avenue, Welland, Ontario, was arrested and charged with impaired driving and operating a motor vehicle with more than 80mg blood alcohol content. The driver was served a 90 day driver’s licence suspension and the vehicle has been impounded for seven days.

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on December 7, 2017.

Fail/Refuse to provide breath sample Arrest:
A 66-year-old Peterborough resident has been charged following a two vehicle collision.

On November 19, 2017 at approximately 12:30 a.m. police were dispatched to a two vehicle collision in the area of Parkhill Road East. The vehicle, driven by the complainant, was stopped and attempting to make a turn when it was rear ended by a truck.

When police arrived on scene the driver of truck was requested by officers to provide a roadside breath sample to which the driver refused.

As a result of the investigation Charles Thomas McGrayne, 66, of Parkhill Road East, was arrested and charged with fail or refuse to provide a breath sample.

The accused was held in custody and appeared in weekend and statutory holiday court on November 19, 2017.

Ongoing Traffic Investigation:
The Peterborough Police Service is asking for the public’s help after a cyclist was struck by a vehicle in a parking lot.

On November 18, 2017 at approximately 5:45 p.m. a cyclist was struck by an SUV in the parking lot of a service station at Monaghan Road and Lansdowne Street. The incident was reported to police and officers attended. The cyclist reported minor injuries. Following the collision the SUV fled the scene. The only description available at this time is that the suspect vehicle is a white SUV with tinted windows, last seen heading southbound on Monaghan Road.
