Nov. 25 – 27, 2017 – Peterborough man charged with trafficking marijuana following investigation at bike store

Drug Trafficking Arrest:
A 59-year-old Peterborough resident has been arrested and charged with trafficking marijuana following an investigation at a George Street bike shop.

The Peterborough Police Service has been receiving ongoing information regarding the sale of marijuana from Poell’s Bike Shop on George Street and as a result of the complaints began an investigation in November of 2017.

On November 24, 2017 members of the Service’s Drug Unit attended the store where, as a result of the investigation, Edmundas Poell, 59, of George Street, was arrested and charged.

A Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) search warrant was executed at the shop where officers located and seized an amount of marijuana (2.75lbs), Oxycodone (43 tablets), a prohibited device (Knife) along with digital scales, cellular devices and drug packaging.

Poell is charged with the following:

  • Traffick schedule II substance (Marijuana under 3 kilograms) X3
  • Possession of a schedule I substance (Oxycodone)
  • Possession of a prohibited device or ammunition (Knife)

The accused appeared in court on November 24, 2017, was remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear again in court today ((Nov. 27).

The investigation is ongoing.

Mischief Arrest:
The Peterborough Police Service has arrested and charged a 35-year-old Peterborough resident with mischief after a window to his ex-partner’s vehicle was damaged.

The accused and the victim were in a previous domestic relationship. On November 26, 2017 it was reported that the accused had attended the address where the victim was staying and used a hammer to smash a window on her vehicle. The incident was reported to police and officers attended the area where they located the accused.

As a result of the investigation the accused was arrested and charged with mischief under $5,000 and breach of probation.

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on December 14, 2017.

In order to protect the identity of the victim the name of the accused will not be released in this domestic incident.

Warrant Arrest
A 50-year-old Burlington resident has been arrested on a warrant for domestic assault following an investigation.

On November 21, 2017 the accused and victim were at their Peterborough residence when a dispute took place and the victim was assaulted. The accused then left the residence. On November 22, 2017 a warrant was issued for the arrest of the accused for domestic assault.

On the evening of November 23, 2017 police located the accused at a Lansdowne Street West address where he was arrested on the warrant.

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on December 14, 2017.

Publication of intimate image without consent Arrest:
The Peterborough Police Service has arrested and charged a 36-year-old Peterborough resident after intimate photos of his ex-partner were shared without her consent.

On November 24, 2017 police received information that the accused had published and distributed intimate photos of the victim without her knowledge or consent. The accused and victim had been in a previous domestic relationship.

As a result of the investigation on November 24, 2017 the accused was arrested and charged with publication of an intimate image without consent and fail to comply with a recognizance.

The accused appeared in weekend and statutory holiday court on November 25, 2017, was remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear again in court later today (Nov. 27).

Uttering threats Arrest:
A 37-year-old Port Hope resident has been charged following a domestic investigation involving threatening text messages to his ex-partner.

The accused and victim were in a previous domestic relationship. On November 22, 2017 it was reported to police that the accused had sent the victim a threatening text message.

On November 22, 2017 the accused was located and arrested by the Port Hope Police Service. Officers with the Peterborough Police Service attended Port Hope where they continued the arrest of the accused for the charge of uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm and transported him back to Peterborough. The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on December 21, 2017.

Possession of stolen property Arrest:
The Peterborough Police Service has made an arrest in an investigation after tools were stolen from a vehicle and placed for sale in an on line ad.

Overnight on November 16, 2017 the victims had various power tools stolen from their vehicle while it was parked at a George Street South address. The stolen items were then placed for sale in an on line advertisement. Through the investigation it was determined that the accused had been in possession of the stolen items.

On November 23, 2017 Blair Nicholas Devison, 28, of Aylmer Street North, was arrested and charged with possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on December 14, 2017.
