Thursday November 23, 2017 – Second arrest made following theft and use of stolen credit card

Warrant Arrest:
The Peterborough Police Service has made a second arrest in a September incident involving the theft and use of a stolen credit card.

On the morning of September 16, 2017 two persons entered an unlocked vehicle parked on Chambers Street and a wallet containing personal identification, cash, bank and credit cards was stolen.

On September 29, 2017 the first suspect was located by officers walking in the area of Brock and George Streets.

As a result of the investigation Robert James Ward, 49, of Rubidge Street, was arrested and charged with use of credit card, theft under $5,000, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000 and fail to comply with a probation order. The accused appeared in court on September 30, 2017.

The second suspect was identified and on November 14, 2017 a warrant was issued for his arrest.

On the afternoon of November 22, 2017 a loss prevention officer at a Lansdowne Street West store observed a person select two boxes of tools from the shelf then exit the store without making any attempt to pay for the merchandise. The loss prevention officer apprehended the male and police were called and attended.

As a result of the investigation Terry Pheap Thang, 31, of no fixed address, Peterborough, was arrested on the warrant and charged with use of credit card, theft under $5,000, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000 and fail to comply with a probation order. He was additionally charged with theft under $5,000 and fail to comply with a probation order.

The accused was held in custody and is scheduled to appear in court later today (Nov. 23).

Assault Arrest:
A 45-year-old Peterborough resident has been charged with assault following a Wednesday night incident.

On November 22, 2017 paramedics were providing medical assistance to a person in the area of Hunter Street East. During the interaction one of the paramedics was struck in the head.

As a result of the investigation Laura Joanne King, 45, of Hunter Street East, was arrested and charged with assault.

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court in December 14, 2017.
