Wednesday November 29, 2017 – Peterborough resident charged with domestic assault following investigation

Domestic Assault Arrest:
A 21-year-old Peterborough resident is facing several charges following a domestic assault investigation.

On the evening of November 24, 2017 the accused, a 21-year-old Peterborough man, and the victim, his ex-girlfriend, became involved in a verbal argument outside a Lansdowne Street West address during which time the victim was assaulted. The accused is on a number of conditions stemming from a previous domestic assault to not contact or communicate either indirectly or directly with the victim. The victim was able to leave the area and then attended the accused’s residence without his knowledge or permission to remove her property.

The assault was reported to police on November 27, 2017. It was also reported that the accused had assaulted the victim in August of 2017.

As a result of the investigation the male accused was arrested on November 28, 2017 and charged with the following:

  • Assault X2
  • Fail to comply with a probation order X4
  • Fail to comply with a recognizance X3

The accused was held in custody and is scheduled to appear in court later today (Nov. 29).

The female accused, a 21-year-old Bobcaygeon resident, was also arrested and charged with the following:

  • Unlawfully in dwelling house
  • Party to the offence – Fail to comply with a recognizance

 

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on December 14, 2017.

The names of the co-accused will not be released in this domestic incident.
