Dec. 2 – 4, 2017 – Peterborough man charged with assault with a weapon following domestic incident

Domestic Assault with a Weapon Arrest:
A 32-year-old Peterborough man has been charged with assault with a weapon following a weekend domestic incident.

During the morning hours of December 2, 2017 the accused and victim became involved in an argument at a Peterborough residence. During the argument it was reported that the accused threw a plate at the victim, striking her in the face and causing a laceration.

EMS and police were called to the residence and the victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

A short time later the accused was located in the area of Hospital Drive where, as a result of the investigation, he was placed under arrest and charged with assault with a weapon.

The accused appeared in weekend and statutory holiday court on December 3, 2017, was remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear again in court later today (Dec. 4).

In order to protect the identity of the victim in this domestic incident the name of the accused will not be released.

Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose Arrest:
A 19-year-old Peterborough man has been charged following a Sunday morning incident.

On December 3, 2017 police were dispatched to a north-end residence for a male with a knife.

When officers arrived it was reported that the accused had brandished a knife at the victim, his grandmother, and had broken her phone. Police located the accused still in the residence along with a small knife. During the subsequent arrest and search the accused was found to be in possession of a quantity of cocaine.

As a result of the investigation the accused was arrested and charged with the following:

  • Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose
  • Possession of a schedule I substance (Cocaine)
  • Mischief under $5,000
  • Fail to comply with a sentence

The accused was held in custody and is scheduled to appear in court today (Dec. 4).

The name of the accused will not be released in order to protect the identity of the victim in this familial-based incident.

Over 80mg Arrest:
A 67-year-old Cavan Monaghan man has been charged following a Saturday evening motor-vehicle collision.

Shortly after 7 p.m. on Saturday December 2, 2017 the complainant was stopped at a red light at the intersection of Monaghan Road and Lansdowne Street when her vehicle was struck from behind by a van. Following the minor collision the suspect vehicle left the area.

The incident was reported to police and a short time later officers located the suspect vehicle in the area of High Street and Lansdowne Street. During a subsequent breath test the male driver of the vehicle was found to have more than twice the legal limit of alcohol in his system.

As a result of the investigation Remmelt Roseboom, 67, of Stewart Line, Cavan Monaghan, was arrested and charged with operating a motor vehicle with more than 80mg blood alcohol content.

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on January 4, 2018.

Theft/Drug Arrest:
A 28-year-old Peterborough man is facing theft and drug charges following an investigation.

On the night of November 24, 2017 a male attended a Chemong Road store and concealed an item of food on his person and then left the store without attempting to pay for the merchandise. The incident was reported to police on November 26, 2017 and a description of the suspect was provided.

On an unrelated call on December 3, 2017 officers located the male suspect at a Rubidge Street residence during which time he was placed under arrest for the theft. During the investigation the accused was found to be in possession of an amount of cocaine and marijuana.

As a result of the investigation Roland William Ferguson, 28, of Sherbrooke Street, is charged with the following:

  • Possession of a schedule I substance (Cocaine)
  • Possession of a schedule II substance (Marijuana)
  • Theft under $5,000
  • Fail to comply with a recognizance X2

The accused was held in custody and is scheduled to appear in court later today (Dec. 4).
