Friday December 15, 2017 – Peterborough resident charged with sexual assault

Sexual Assault Arrest:
A 57-year-old Peterborough resident has been charged with sexual assault following an investigation.

On the afternoon of December 14, 2017 the victim, an adult female, was in the area of Simcoe Street when she was approached by an unknown male and touched inappropriately. The incident was reported to police. Through the investigation the accused was identified and located still in the area.

As a result of the investigation Orland William James, 57, of Herbert Street, is charged with sexual assault.

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on January 11, 2018.

Drug Arrests:
Three persons have been arrested and charged and a large quantity of cocaine seized following a drug search warrant at a Peterborough home.

As a result of an ongoing investigation, on December 14, 2017 members of the Peterborough Police Service’s ICAD (Intelligence, Crime Analysis, Asset Forfeiture and Drug Unit) executed a Controlled Drugs and Substance Act (CDSA) search warrant at Downie Street residence.

As a result of the investigation the following persons were arrested and charged:

Samuel Djabah, 24, of Brampton, is charged with the following:

  • Traffick in schedule I substance (Cocaine)
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking (Cocaine)
  • Possession of a schedule II substance for the purpose of trafficking (Marijuana under 3 kg)
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000
  • Fail to comply with a probation order

Sheila Anderson, 47, of Downie Street, Peterborough, is charged with the following:

  • Traffick in schedule I substance (Cocaine)
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking (Cocaine)
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000

Deontay Willis, 24, of Newmarket, is charged with the following:

  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking (Cocaine)
  • Possession of a schedule II substance for the purpose of trafficking (Marijuana under 3 kg)
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000

As a result of the search warrant the following was seized:

  • 54.7 grams of cocaine
  • 19.9 grams of marijuana
  • Drug paraphernalia including drug packaging, a scale and cell phones
  • Quantity of cash

All three accused were held in custody and are scheduled to appear in court later today (Dec. 15).

Impaired Arrest:
A Fenelon Falls resident is facing charges including impaired driving following a Thursday evening motor vehicle collision.

On December 14, 2017 at approximately 7:15 p.m. a two-vehicle collision took place on County Road 10 and Hayes Line. A car, driven by the accused, had failed to stop for a stop sign and collided with pick-up truck that was travelling southbound on County Road 10. No injuries were reported as a result.

While speaking with the accused officers noted a strong odour of alcoholic coming from the accused’s breath. A subsequent breath test revealed the accused had more than the legal limit of alcohol in her system.

As a result of the investigation Shannon Thompson, 28, of Clifton Street, Fenelon Falls, was arrested and charged with impaired driving and operating a motor vehicle with more than 80mg blood alcohol content.

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on January 11, 2018.
