A 36-year-old Peterborough man is facing numerous charges following a domestic assault investigation.
On December 5, 2017 police received information regarding various incidents dating back to July 2014 where the accused had assaulted the female victim, damaged her property, threatened her while brandishing a knife and also threatened members of her extended family.
As a result of the investigation on December 6, 2017 a warrant was issued for the arrest of the accused.
On December 11, 2017 the accused attended the Peterborough Police station where he was arrested on the warrant for the following:
- Assault X3
- Mischief under $5,000 X2
- Uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm X5
- Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose
The accused was held in custody and appeared in court on December 11, 2017.
The name of the accused will not be released in order to protect the identity of the victim in this domestic related incident.
Use of credit card/Theft Arrest:
The Peterborough Police Service has made an arrest after stolen credit cards were used at local stores.
On December 9, 2017 the complainant was at a Simcoe Street establishment when he lost his wallet in the parking lot. The wallet, containing personal I.D and bank cards, was picked-up and the stolen credit cards were used at local stores.
Through the investigation the accused was identified.
On December 11, 2017 the accused was located at a Princess Street address where, as a result of the investigation, he was placed under arrest.
Donavan Anthony Huycke, 25, of Princess Street, is charged with the following:
- Use of credit card X2
- Theft under $5,000 X2
- Fail to comply with a probation order X2
It was determined that the accused was also a suspect in a November 2, 2017 theft from a Lansdowne Street West store.
The accused is further charged with:
- Theft under $5,000
- Fail to comply with a probation order
The accused was held in custody and is scheduled to appear in court later today (Dec. 12).
Break and Enter:
The Peterborough Police Service is asking anyone with information to come forward following a break-in at a local restaurant.
At approximately 4 a.m. on December 11, 2017 unknown person(s) broke into a Sherbrooke Street restaurant and stole a large quantity of cash.

An 89-year-old Peterborough man has been charged with theft following an incident at a local store.
On December 9, 2017 a male attended a Lansdowne Street West store, selected items off the shelves, concealed the items then left the store without making attempt to pay for the concealed merchandise.
A store security officer followed the male outside the store where he was placed under arrest. Police were called and attended.
As a result of the investigation Nevruz Kulla, 89, of Pulpit Road, Peterborough, is charged with theft under $5,000.
The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on January 11, 2018.
