Tuesday December 19, 2017 – Arrest made in convenience store robbery

Robbery/Theft Arrest:
A 35-year-old Peterborough woman is facing robbery and theft charges following incidents at two local convenience stores.

On December 17, 2017 at approximately 2:35 p.m. an unknown female entered a Park Street South convenience store, indicated to the employee that she had a knife and demanded money from the till. When the clerk did not comply the female grabbed the cash register in an attempt to open it but was unsuccessful. The female then fled the store. The incident was reported to police and officers attended.

At approximately 8:40 p.m. that same day an unknown female attended an Orpington Road convenience store and stole several items including lottery tickets. Following the theft police were called and attended the store. Officers were provided a description of the female and a description of the suspect vehicle.

Through the investigation the female suspect was identified. At approximately 10:40 p.m. on December 17, 2017 the female suspect was located at a Peterborough residence where she was placed under arrest for the theft at the Orpington Road convenience store.

As a result of the investigation Connie Anne Desjardins, 35, of St. Mary’s Street, Peterborough, was charged with theft under $5,000.

Through further investigation it was revealed that the female was also connected to the robbery earlier in the day at the Park Street South convenience store. During the investigation officers located clothes in the suspect’s vehicle that had been stolen from a vehicle parked in the area of Barnardo Avenue.

Desjardins was additionally charged with the following:

  • Robbery with intent
  • Possession of stolen property

The accused appeared in court on December 18, 2017, was remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear again in court on December 20, 2017.

Domestic Forcible Confinement/Assault Arrest:
A 68-year-old Lindsay man has been charged with assault and forcible confinement following a Monday night domestic incident.

On December 18, 2017 police attended a Lakefield residence for a domestic dispute. During an argument it was reported that the accused had assaulted the victim, a woman in her 60’s, and had prevented her from calling police or leaving the residence.

As a result of the investigation the accused was arrested and charged with domestic assault and forcible confinement.

The accused was held in custody and is scheduled to appear in court later today (Dec. 19).

The name of the accused will not be released to protect the identity of the victim in this domestic incident.

Trespass at Night/Possession of Stolen Property Arrest:
A 29-year-old Peterborough man is facing several charges including possession of stolen property and trespassing at night following an investigation.

On December 7, 2017 a warrant was issued for the arrest of the accused for fail to comply with a probation order.

On December 19, 2017 at approximately 12:30 a.m. the accused was seen in the area of Wolfe Street but eluded police. A short time later he was located by officers behind a Paterson Street residence. The accused was subsequently arrested on the warrant. During a search incident to arrest the accused was found to be in possession of narcotics and stolen property including power tools.

As a result of the investigation Daniel John Laundry, 29, of Paterson Street, is charged with the following:

  • Fail to comply with a probation order
  • Breach of probation
  • Trespass at night
  • Possession of stolen property under $5,000
  • Possession of a schedule I substance (Codeine)
  • Possession of a schedule II substance (Marijuana under 30grams)

The accused was held in custody and is scheduled to appear in court later today (Dec. 19).
