Wednesday December 6, 2017 – Tires slashed to 14 vehicles along Cumberland Avenue

Mischief Investigation:
The Peterborough Police Service is investigating after 14 vehicles parked along Cumberland Avenue had their tires slashed or damaged during the overnight hours of December 2 to December 3, 2017.

Our Service also received one report of a Christmas decoration outside a Cumberland Avenue home that was damaged during this time period.

We would also request that any resident on Cumberland Avenue who may have had video surveillance outside their residence operating during this time to contact our Alternative Response Unit officer at 705-876-1122 ext. 274.

Domestic Assault Arrest:
A 26-year-old Peterborough man is facing assault and mischief charges following two domestic incidents.

On the morning of December 5, 2017 police attended a Peterborough residence after receiving a report of an injured female. Through the investigation it was revealed that during a domestic argument that had taken place that morning the accused had assaulted the victim and had damaged her cell phone. The victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment to her injuries.

It was also reported that the victim had also been assaulted by the accused during a previous domestic argument in late November 2017.

On the afternoon of December 5, 2017 officers located the accused at a Peterborough address where, as a result of the investigation, he was arrested and charged with domestic assault X2 and mischief under $5,000.

The accused was held in custody and is scheduled to appear in court later today (Dec. 6).

In order to protect the identity of the victim in this domestic incident the name of the accused will not be released.

Break and Enter:
The Peterborough Police Service is asking for the public’s assistance in locating a suspect following a break-in at a Peterborough apartment building office.

On December 1, 2017 at approximately 1:30 a.m. an unknown person broke into the office at a Talwood Drive apartment building and stole a quantity of cash and rent cheques.

The suspect is described as:

  • Unknown gender
  • 5’6” to 5’9”
  • Thin build
  • Wearing a black toque, black hooded sweater and black pants
