Sexual Assault Arrest:
A Peterborough teen has been charged with sexual assault and sexual interference following an investigation.
In early January 2018 police received information that in 2017 the accused, now a 15-year-old Peterborough male, had sexually assaulted the victim, a step-sibling under the age of 16 years.
As a result of the subsequent investigation, on January 11, 2018 the accused was arrested and charged with sexual assault on a person under 16 years of age and sexual interference.
The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on January 29, 2018.
Under the Youth Criminal Justice Act and in order to protect the identity of the victim the name of the accused will not be released.
Assault with a Weapon Arrests:
The Peterborough Police Service has arrested and charged two men following a Thursday night domestic incident.
One of the accused, a 24-year-old Cavan Monaghan man, was in a previous domestic relationship with the victim, a woman in her 20’s.
On the night of January 11, 2018 the accused along with his friend, a 23-year-old Peterborough man, and other males attended a Peterborough residence where the victim was socializing with acquaintances and her new boyfriend.
Upon entering the residence the female victim and the male victim were assaulted and threatened. Police were contacted and attended.
The co-accused and the other males then fled the residence. There were no injuries reported as a result and neither victim required medical attention.
Shortly after officers located the two male accused walking in the area near where the incident occurred. As a result of the investigation both males were arrested and charged.
A 23-year-old Peterborough male has been charged with the following:
- Assault with a weapon X2 (Knife)
- Unlawfully in dwelling house
- Possession of a schedule II substance (Marijuana under 30 grams)
- Uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm
- Fail to comply with a probation order
A 24-year-old Cavan Monaghan male (ex-boyfriend of the female victim) has been charged with the following:
- Assault with a weapon
- Unlawfully in dwelling house
Both accused were held in custody and are scheduled to appear in court later today (Jan. 12).
Due to the domestic nature of this incident the names of the accused will not be released in order to protect the identity of the victims.
A 25-year-old Peterborough woman has been charged with assault following a dispute with her roommate.
On January 10, 2018 at approximately 6 p.m. the accused entered her roommate’s room at a Peterborough residence and assaulted her. The victim attended a local hospital for treatment to her injuries and the incident was later reported to police.
As a result of the investigation on January 11, 2018 the accused was arrested and charged with assault.
The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on February 1, 2018.
As releasing the name of the accused could identify the victim, the name of the accused will not be released.
Over 80mg Arrest:
A 44-year-old Peterborough man has been charged following an early January motor vehicle collision in a local parking lot.
On January 4, 2018 at approximately 4:40 p.m. police were called to a Monaghan Road parking lot for a two-vehicle collision. No injuries were reported as a result. Through the investigation police located the male driver of one of the vehicles inside an adjacent business. While speaking with the male officers noticed a strong odour of an alcoholic beverage on the driver’s breath. A subsequent breath test revealed the driver had more than twice the legal limit of alcohol in his system.
As a result of the investigation Jason Hornigold, 44, of Bramble Road, Peterborough, was arrested and charged with operating a motor vehicle with more than 80mg blood alcohol content.
The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on January 25, 2018.
