Robbery:
The Peterborough Police Service is investigating and asking anyone with information to come forward following a Sunday afternoon robbery.

On January 7, 2018 at approximately 5:45 p.m. police received a 9-1-1 call regarding a robbery.

It was reported that while an adult male was walking in the area of Wolfe Street he was approached by an unknown male and assaulted. The male suspect threatened the victim and demanded the victim hand over his bag. When the victim refused he was assaulted again. It was reported that the male suspect then brandished a knife and once again threatened the victim. The victim turned over items to the male suspect including a quantity of cash. The male suspect then fled the area on foot.

The suspect is described as:

  • Male
  • Caucasian
  • Mid-thirties
  • 5’6”
  • 160lbs
  • Stocky build
  • Brown short curly or wavy hair
  • Unshaven facial hair

Domestic Assault Arrest:
A 22-year-old Peterborough man is facing several charges including assault, uttering threats and pointing a firearm following a weekend domestic incident.

On January 6, 2018 at approximately 4:30 p.m. police were dispatched to a Peterborough residence after receiving a 9-1-1 call for a domestic situation.

It was reported that the accused had attended the victim’s residence, threatened the victim and then brandished kitchen knives and later a pellet gun. During the incident the victim, a woman in her 20’s, was assaulted. The accused then left the residence.

When officers arrived on scene they located the accused.

As a result of the investigation the accused was arrested and charged with the following:

  • Domestic assault
  • Uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm
  • Pointing a firearm
  • Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose
  • Fail to comply with a probation order

Police subsequently recovered and seized two knives and a pellet gun related to the incident.

The accused attended weekend and statutory holiday court on January 7, 2018, was remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear again in court later today (Jan. 8).

The name of the accused will not be released in order to protect the identity of the victim in this domestic incident.

Mischief Arrest:
A 25-year-old Peterborough man has been charged with mischief after a window at a downtown store was kicked-in over the weekend.

On January 6, 2018 at approximately 1 a.m. police were dispatched to a George Street North store for an intoxicated male who had kicked a hole through the glass window of the store. Damage to the window is estimated at $500.

A witness provided police with a description of the male suspect. A short time later officers located the male suspect at the intersection of George and Simcoe Streets.

As a result of the investigation Nathan Springett, 25, of Huntington Circle, Peterborough, was arrested and charged with mischief under $5,000.

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on January 25, 2018.

Domestic Assault Arrest:
The Peterborough Police Service has arrested and charged a 32-year-old man with assault following a December domestic incident.

On the evening of December 19, 2017 a witness saw a domestic incident take place outside a local shopping centre. It was reported that a male had assaulted a female. The witness attempted to intervene and then the male and female got into a vehicle and left the area.

Through the investigation the male suspect was identified. On January 5, 2018 officers attended a Peterborough residence where, as a result of the investigation, the accused was arrested and charged with domestic assault and fail to comply with a probation order.

The accused appeared in weekend and statutory holiday court on January 6, 2018, was remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear again in court later today (Jan. 8).

The name of the accused will not be released in order to protect the identity of the victim in this domestic incident.

Uttering threats arrest:
The Peterborough Police Service has arrested and charged a 29-year-old man after staff at a local hospital were threatened.

On the night of January 5, 2018 police attended the local hospital for a male who was acting aggressively and had threatened staff.

As a result of the investigation Anthony Craig Weatherup, 29, of Dalhousie Street, was arrested and charged with uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm and fail to comply with a probation order.

The accused attended weekend and statutory holiday court on January 7, 2018, was remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear again in court on January 10, 2018.
