Update: Stabbing at 335 Stewart Street

Through an ongoing investigation into the stabbing on Stewart Street it has now beendetermined that an argument over property took place between the accused and another man in the accused’s apartment. The victim overheard the argument and entered the accused’s apartment at which time he was stabbed in the chest.  The victim, accused and a third man all reside in apartments within 335 Stewart Street and are known to each other.

The 20 year old male victim has been treated for a single stab wound to his chest and released from hospital.

Justin Williams, 21 years old, of 335 Stewart Street, has been arrested charged with Aggravated Assault and Assault with a Weapon and will appear in Court later today.  Police remain on scene at 335 Stewart Street continuing the investigation until later this morning.

Update: Arrest made in Robbery from June 27, 2012

On June 27, 2012, at approximately 8:00 pm, a robbery took place near the London Street Dam with two men pushing the victims into the river and stealing their fishing equipment.  An ongoing police investigation has resulted in the arrest of Kyle Averns, 27 years old, of Aylmer Street North for the charge of Robbery.  Averns was arrested on July 11, 2012, in Peterborough, he has been held in custody and will appear in Court July 12, 2012. Police are also in the process of obtaining a warrant for the second man involved, Peter Bittner, 30 years old, of Alexander Court, also on the charge of Robbery.

Theft Under Arrest

On July 5, 2012, at approximately 3:00 pm, a loss prevention officer at Wal-Mart watched a man in the electronics department select a video game and then conceal the game cartridge in his pocket. The loss prevention officer then watched the man leave the store without paying for the item. Total value of the theft is under $20.

Once outside the store the loss prevention officer approached the man and placed him under arrest for Theft.  Police were called and as a result of the investigation, Mark Switzer, 31 years old, of Birdslake Road, Bancroft, was arrested and charged with Theft Under $5,000. He was released from custody and will appear in Court on August 2, 2012.

Theft Arrest

On July 4, 2012, at approximately 5:30 pm, a loss prevention officer at Wal-Mart watched two suspects select items off the shelves and place them in a cart.  The loss prevention officer then watched one of the accused distract a store greeter while the other accused left the store with the cartload of unpaid merchandise.  Total value of the theft is estimated at $1,000.  

The two accused left in a vehicle and police were called and provided with a description of the suspect’s vehicle.  As a result of the investigation, at 8:30 pm, on July 4, 2012, police arrested both accused in the area of Downie Street.

John Lionel Rogers, 42 years old, of no fixed address, was arrested and charged with party to the offence of Theft Under $5,000 and two counts of Fail to Comply.  He was released from custody and appeared in Court on July 5, 2012.

Richard Alexander Wallachy, 33 years old, of Cardinal Drive, Ennismore, was arrested and charged with Theft Under $5,000 and Breach Probation.  He was released from custody and will appear in Court on July 26, 2012.
