On July 23, 2013 Peterborough Lakefield Police uniform patrol investigated a robbery which occurred at a residence on Armour Rd. in the City's North end. The investigation was continued by the Street Crime unit which determined, through investigation, that the robbery never occurred. On July 25, 2013 the Peterborough Lakefield Police Street Crime Unit arrested and charged James Andrew Chatten, 46 of Peterborough, with public mischief, causing the police to investigate a crime that never occurred, and Theft Under $5000. Chatten was released from custody and will appear in court on August 29, 2013.

On July 23, 2013 at approximately 6:00 a.m. an employee at a community residence for adults on Armour Road was attacked by an unknown person while doing some work outside the residence. The 46 year old male victim reports he was grabbed from behind at which time the suspect put his arm around his neck and lead him into the premises. The suspect then located the office and forced the victim to open a safe. The victim reports that the suspect grabbed an unknown amount of cash and then struck him in the back of his head with an unknown object. The suspect fled the residence and the victim contacted police. The victim was taken to Peterborough Regional Health Centre by Ambulance to be treated for his minor injuries. There were no physical injuries to any of the residents of the community residence. The Peterborough Lakefield Community Police Service is continuing to investigate.
