Collision Reporting Centre

Since January 21, 2002, the Peterborough Lakefield Community Police Service has partnered with Accident Support Services International Ltd. to operate the Collision Reporting Centre.  The Peterborough Collision Reporting Centre provides a convenient reporting environment to the public for the investigation of property damage vehicle collisions.  Rather than police attending the scene of the collision, citizens can exchange information and then have 48 hours to report property damage only collisions, towed or driveable at the Collision Reporting Centre.  Police will continue to attend collisions involving injury or death, alcohol, criminal activity, vehicles transporting dangerous goods or police vehicles.

The Collision Reporting Centre (CRC) is located in the front lobby of the Peterborough Lakefield Community Police Service - Headquarters at 500 Water St. This is the facility where the public in Peterborough report their traffic collisions.

The Highway Traffic Act requires that all collisions where persons are injured, damage exceeds a combined value of $1,000.00, or where there is damage to highway property, MUST be reported to the Police.

A driver involved in a property damage collision will report the collision at the Collision Reporting Centre during business hours, with the following exceptions in which police will attend the scene:

• Injury or death has occurred as a result of the collision
• Criminal activity such as impaired driving or a stolen vehicle is involved
• a Government vehicle is involved
• involved vehicle is transporting dangerous goods
• there is damage caused to private, municipal or highway property.

During business hours, towed vehicles must go directly to the Collision Reporting Centre from the scene of the collision. If you require a tow, please call the Peterborough Towing Association at 705-740-6699.

Monday to Friday: 10:00 am - 6:00 pm
Saturday: 10:00 am - 4:00 pm
