Hiring a Paid Duty Officer

The Paid Duty Program

The Peterborough Police Service is committed to providing quality service to the community. The Paid Duty Program will allow clients to hire off-duty officers on a contract basis to provide a police presence at their events. Officers will not be assigned to any function that requires that they act outside the normal scope of police duties. Some of the assignments for which officers are available include (but are not limited to):

  • Community events
  • Festivals and concerts
  • Film productions
  • Meetings or Hearings
  • Parades
  • Private functions
  • Road construction
  • Sporting events
  • Traffic control
  • Wide load escorts

Each request will be reviewed to ensure that it meets Service policies. We reserve the right to determine the number of officers required for an event based upon a risk assessment. Only when all parties agree and all required positions are filled will service be provided. Please note we require a minimum of seven days advance notice to book a paid duty. We will respond to your request within 48 hours.

  • Online, by completing the form below.
  • By telephone, by calling  the Peterborough Police Service station at 705-876-1122 during business hours Mon – Thurs 8:30 – 4:30 p.m.  and Fri 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
