Wednesday March 7, 2018 – Peterborough man charged with assault causing bodily harm following October altercation

Assault causing bodily harm Arrest:
A 24-year-old Peterborough man has been charged with assault causing bodily harm following an October altercation outside a George Street restaurant.

On October 7, 2017 at approximately 1:50 a.m. the accused and an unknown adult male engaged in a physical confrontation. During the altercation the victim was pushed through the window of a George Street restaurant. Due to the extent of the injuries the victim required medical treatment. Through the investigation the accused was identified.

On February 27, 2018 the accused attended the police station where, as a result of the investigation, he was placed under arrest.

Michael Dawson, 24, of Knox Road, Peterborough, is charged with assault causing bodily harm.

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on March 29, 2018.

Sexual assault/forcible confinement Arrest:
A Peterborough teen has been charged with sexual assault and forcible confinement following an investigation.

On March 1, 2018 the 16-year-old accused and the victim, a teenage female, were outside a Peterborough address when it was reported that the victim was sexually assaulted and was prevented from leaving the area. The accused and victim know each other. The victim was eventually able to leave the area and the incident was later reported to police.

On March 6, 2018 the accused attended the police station where, as a result of the investigation, he was arrested and charged with sexual assault and forcible confinement.

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on March 19, 2018.

Under the Youth Criminal Justice Act the name of a young person cannot be released.

Sexual assault Arrest:
A 72-year-old Peterborough man has been charged with sexual assault following an investigation.

On the morning of March 5, 2018 the victim, an adult female, was in the hallway of a Peterborough apartment building when she was approached by a resident who attempted to engage her in conversation. During the interaction the victim was sexually assaulted. The incident was reported to police and officers investigated.

On March 6, 2018 officers attended a Peterborough apartment building where, as a result of the investigation, the accused was arrested and charged.

Thomas Brian Yates, 72, of Alexander Court, is charged with sexual assault.

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on March 29, 2018.

Theft:
The Peterborough Police Service is investigating after a bag of tools were stolen from a truck parked at a George Street South business.

Sometime between 6 p.m. on March 5, 2018 and 6 a.m. on March 6, 2018 unknown person(s) stole a power tool bag from the rear of a pick-up truck parked at a George Street South business. Inside the bag were various tools valued at approximately $500.
