Friday May 11, 2018 – Three people charged, large quantity of cocaine and cash seized during drug investigation

A North York teen, a Scarborough man and a Peterborough woman are facing drug charges after a large quantity of cocaine and cash were seized by police following a vehicle stop and drug search warrant.

As a result of an ongoing investigation, on May 10, 2018 members of the Peterborough Police Service’s ICAD (Intelligence, Crime Analyst, Asset Forfeiture and Drug) Unit conducted a vehicle stop in a Lansdowne Street West parking lot and then executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) search warrant at a Stewart Street residence.

As a result of the vehicle stop and search warrant four persons were arrested and the following was seized:

  • Approximately 62.4grams of suspected cocaine
  • Approximately $6,691 in Canadian currency

As a result of the investigation the following persons were charged. The fourth person was released unconditionally.

Shakeem Anderson-Henry, 25, of Coronation Drive, Scarborough, Ontario is charged with the following:

  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking (Cocaine)
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime over $5,000

The accused was held in custody and is scheduled to appear in court later today (May 11).

17-year-old female, North York, Ontario is charged with the following:

  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking (Cocaine)
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000

Under the Youth Criminal Justice Act the name of a young person cannot be released.

Shelley Evelyn Deschamps, 45, of Chemong Road, Peterborough, is charged with the following:

  • Possession of a schedule I substance (Cocaine)

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on June 7, 2018.
