Thursday May 17, 2018 – Peterborough man facing charges including impaired driving following Wednesday night motor vehicle collision on Kawartha Heights Boulevard

Impaired/Over 80mg Arrest:
A 49-year-old Peterborough man is facing charges including impaired driving following a Wednesday night motor vehicle collision on Kawartha Heights Boulevard.

Shortly after 9 p.m. on May 16, 2018 police received a complaint regarding a single motor vehicle collision on Kawartha Heights Boulevard. During the incident the suspect vehicle had left the roadway and struck a street light.

Officers arrived on scene and while speaking with the male driver of the vehicle noted a strong odour of an alcoholic beverage coming from the man’s breath. A subsequent breath test revealed the driver had more than twice the legal limit of alcohol in his system while operating a motor vehicle.

As a result of the investigation Douglas J. MacCourt, 49, of Woodglade Boulevard, was arrested and charged with impaired driving and operating a motor vehicle with more than 80mg blood alcohol content. The accused was also served a 90 day automatic drivers licence suspension and a seven day vehicle impoundment.

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on June 7, 2018.

Care or control while impaired Arrest:
A 23-year-old man from Wasaga Beach, Ontario has been charged following an incident in a fast food restaurant parking lot.

On May 13, 2018 at approximately 7 a.m. police received a complaint regarding a vehicle that had been parked in a Lansdowne Street West restaurant parking lot for approximately one hour with a male driver who appeared to be asleep behind the wheel with the keys in the ignition and an occupant in the front passenger seat that was also asleep.

Officers attended and roused the male driver. While speaking with the driver of the vehicle officers noted an odour of an alcoholic beverage coming from the man’s breath. A subsequent breath test revealed the driver had more than the legal limit of alcohol in his system while in care and control of a motor vehicle.

As a result of the investigation Zachary Bradley Peckford, 23, of Timberland Crescent,Wasaga Beach, Ontario, was arrested and charged with care or control while impaired by alcohol. The accused was also served a 90 day automatic drivers licence suspension and a seven day vehicle impoundment.

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on June 7, 2018.

Possession of stolen property Arrest:
A 52-year-old Peterborough man has been charged after a stolen bicycle was located at a Peterborough residence.

On May 6, 2018 police became aware of a stolen bicycle at a King Street residence. Officers attended the residence where the stolen bike was located and recovered through a search warrant.

As a result of the investigation Michael Leigh Noble, 52, of King Street, was arrested and charged with possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on May 31, 2018.

Assault Arrest:
The Peterborough Police Service has charged a 31-year-old man with assault following a dispute at a multiunit residence on Bolivar Street.

On May 15, 2018 a dispute between the accused and the victim, a male in his 20’s, took place at the residence. During the dispute it was reported that the accused assaulted the victim, whom he knows. Police were called and officers attended.

As a result of the investigation Christopher Edward Kerr, 31, of Murray Street, Peterborough, was arrested and charged with assault and fail to comply with a probation order.

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on June 7, 2018.

Possession of stolen property Arrest:
A 48-year-old Peterborough man has been charged after stolen property was sold to a local swap shop.

On April 11, 2018 police received a report regarding an unlocked vehicle parked outside a Mark Street residence that had been broken into and had various items stolen including DVD’s and CD’s. It was further reported that a male had sold some of the items to a second hand store in Peterborough. Through the investigation the male was identified.

On May 13, 2018 officers attended a Hunter Street East address where, as a result of the investigation, the accused was located and arrested.

Kevin Francis Dwyer, 48, of Hunter Street East, is charged with possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on June 7, 2018.
