Domestic assault with a weapon arrest:
A 26-year-old Peterborough resident is facing several charges including assault with a weapon and uttering threats following a domestic incident.

On August 4, 2018 at approximately 2 a.m. police were dispatched to a Peterborough residence for a domestic assault. It was reported that the 26-year-old male accused had attended the residence and struck and pushed the victim and assaulted the victim with an iPad. The accused also made threats to burn property and threatened the victim and members of her family. Following the incident the accused fled the home. Shortly after 6 a.m. that same day officers located the accused hiding in an area by the home.

As a result of the investigation the accused was arrested and charged with the following:

  • Assault with a weapon
  • Assault
  • Uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm
  • Uttering threats to damage property X2
  • Fail to comply with a probation order

The accused appeared in weekend and statutory holiday court on August 4, 2018, was remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear again in court on August 7, 2018.

In order to protect the identity of the victim in this domestic incident the name of the accused will not be released.

Robbery:
The Peterborough Police Service is investigating following a robbery outside a Dublin Street apartment complex.

On August 2, 2018 at approximately 11:30 a.m. the victim was leaving her apartment complex on Dublin Street when she was approached outside the front entrance by two unknown females. The female suspects then assaulted the victim and stole her purse containing items including cash and personal identification.

The suspects are described as:

  • Approximately 30 years in age
  • 5’8″
  • Medium build
  • No teeth
  • Blonde wavy hair
  • Green pants
  • Blue sleeve muscle shirt

  • Female
  • Caucasian
  • Approximately 30 years in age
  • 5’4″
  • Short shaved maroon hair
  • Large build
  • Blue jeans
  • White T-Shirt

Domestic assault arrest:
A Peterborough resident has been arrested on a warrant for domestic assault charges.

In late June 2018 the accused and victim became involved in a dispute at a Peterborough residence during which time the accused assaulted the victim. In late July 2018 the accused and victim became involved in a dispute again during which time the accused assaulted the victim. The incidents were reported to police in late July 2018.

As a result of the investigation a warrant was issued for the arrest of the accused for assault X2.

On August 4, 2018 officers attended a Peterborough residence where the accused was located and arrested on the warrant.

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on August 30, 2018.

In order to protect the identity of the victim in this domestic incident the name of the accused will not be released.

Robbery:
The Peterborough Police Service is investigating following a weekend robbery at an apartment complex on Hunter Street East.

On August 5, 2018 an unknown male attended a Hunter Street East apartment complex, knocked on the door to one of the units and asked the victim for money. The victim gave the suspect an amount of money and the suspect left. Later that same day the suspect re-attended the apartment and attempted to break-into the unit. The victim attempted to stop the suspect during which time the suspect assaulted the victim and stole an amount of money from inside the unit.

The suspect is described as:

  • Male
  • Caucasian
  • 5’7”
  • Medium build
  • Green and white checkered shorts
  • Not wearing a shirt

Vehicle break-ins:
The Peterborough Police Service is investigating following break-ins to vehicles.

Sometime between 5:45 p.m. on August 4, 2018 and 2:30 p.m. on August 5, 2018 unknown suspect(s) broke into a secured vehicle parked at a Milroy Drive home. Once inside the thieves stole items including prescription eyeglasses and a phone charger.

Between 8:30 p.m. on August 4, 2018 and 8 a.m. on August 5, 2018 thieves entered an unlocked vehicle parked at a Hazlitt Street residence and stole lottery tickets, tools and loose change.

Sometime between 3:30 p.m. on August 4, 2018 and 8:30 a.m. on August 5, 2018 unknown suspect(s) entered an unlocked car parked at a Sherbrooke Street home and stole a wallet and personal identification.

The Peterborough Police Service reminds residents to double-triple check to ensure all vehicle doors and windows are locked and secured and to report any suspicious persons in their neighbourhood to police.
