Oct. 6 – 9, 2018 – Peterborough man arrested and charged with assault causing bodily harm following altercation in the area of Stewart and Simcoe Streets

Assault causing bodily harm Arrest:
A 40-year-old Peterborough man has been arrested and charged with assault causing bodily harm following an altercation in the area of Stewart and Simcoe Streets.

On October 6, 2018 at approximately 2:35 a.m. officers saw two males engaged in a physical altercation at the intersection of Stewart and Simcoe Streets. The two men did not know each other prior to the altercation. Peterborough Paramedics attended and the victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

As a result of the investigation Daniel Ralph Anthony, 40, of Downie Street, was arrested and charged with assault causing bodily harm.

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on October 25, 2018.

Domestic assault/Forcible confinement Arrest:
A 44-year-old Peterborough resident was arrested on a warrant for charges including forcible confinement and assault following a domestic incident in the summer.

In August of 2018 the accused and female victim were at a Peterborough residence when the accused prevented the victim from leaving the home and assaulted the victim. The victim was eventually able to leave the residence and the incident was reported to police.

As a result of the investigation a warrant was issued for the arrest of the accused for assault, forcible confinement and fail to comply with a probation order.

On October 6, 2018 officers located the accused at a Peterborough residence where he was arrested on the warrant.

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on October 25, 2018.

In order to protect the identity of the victim in this domestic incident the name of the accused will not be released.

Fail to stop at scene of accident Arrest:
The Peterborough Police Service has arrested and charged a 20-year-old Peterborough resident following a motor vehicle collision in the downtown.

On October 5, 2018 at approximately 9:45 a.m. a motor vehicle being driven by the accused in the area of Water and Brock Streets struck another vehicle. The driver then fled the scene.

Through the investigation the accused was identified and a warrant issued for her arrest.

On October 7, 2018 officers located the accused in the area of George Street North where she was arrested on the warrant.

Alice Marie Bergeron, 20, of Brock Street, is charged with the following:

  • Fail to stop at the scene of an accident
  • Fail to comply with a recognizance
  • Fail to comply with a probation order
  • Drive motor vehicle no licence (Highway Traffic Act)
  • Use plate not authorized for vehicle (Highway Traffic Act)
  • Drive motor vehicle, no validation on plate (Highway Traffic Act)

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on October 25, 2018.

Through the investigation it was revealed that other parties in the vehicle at the time of the collision mislead police and provided false information during the investigation.

Lindsay Joy Pilch, 20, of Beehive Drive, Cameron, Ontario, was also located at a George Street North address on October 7, 2018 where she was arrested and charged with public mischief.

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on October 25, 2018.

Assault Arrest:
A 21-year-old Curve Lake resident has been charged with assault following a weekend incident on Charlotte Street.

On October 6, 2018 at approximately 12:54 a.m. officers were dispatched to the area of Charlotte Street for a disturbance between two persons. It was reported that while walking in the area the accused and female victim had exchanged words at which point the accused struck the victim in the face. The accused and victim do not know each other. Peterborough Paramedics attended and the victim was assessed and treated on site.

As a result of the investigation Denell Taylor, 21, of Neebesh Street, Curve Lake, was arrested and charged with assault.

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on October 25, 2018.

Domestic assault Arrest:
A 43-year-old Peterborough man has been arrested and charged following a domestic assault investigation.

On the evening of October 7, 2018 the accused and victim became involved in a verbal argument outside Peterborough residence. During the argument a pedestrian observed the accused assault the victim. Police were contacted and officers attended where they located the accused at the residence. During the incident the accused assaulted an officer and resisted arrest.

As a result of the investigation the accused was arrested and charged with the following:

  • Domestic assault
  • Assault peace officer
  • Resist peace officer

The accused was held in custody and appeared in weekend and statutory holiday court on October 8, 2018.

In order to protect the identity of the victim in this domestic incident the name of the accused will not be released.
