Friday November 9, 2018 – Second person arrested on charges including assault causing bodily harm and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose following a break-in at Peterborough home

Break and enter/Assault causing bodily harm Arrest:
A second person has been arrested on charges including assault causing bodily harm and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose following a break-in at a Peterborough home.

On November 7, 2018 at approximately 8:40 p.m. it was reported that a group of men attended a Peterborough residence and brandishing baseball bats with nails protruding from them broke into the residence after being denied entry. Information received also indicated two of the men were in possession of knives.

During the incident a male victim was injured and a female victim, who attempted to follow the co-accused once they fled the residence, was also injured. The persons involved in this incident know each other.

Police and Peterborough Paramedics were contacted and attended the residence. Both victims were taken to a local hospital for assessment and treatment to their injuries.

During the early morning hours of November 8, 2018 officers located one of the accused at a Peterborough residence where he was arrested and charged (See original media release)

At approximately 10 a.m. on November 8, 2018 officers located the second co-accused at a residence in Cavan Monaghan.

As a result of the investigation Jarred Alexander Scott, 20, of Stewart Line, Township of Cavan Monaghan, is charged with the following:

  • Assault causing bodily harm
  • Break and enter
  • Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose
  • Fail to comply with a probation order.

The accused was held in custody and appeared in court on November 8, 2018.

The investigation is ongoing.

Sexual assault Arrest:
A 55-year-old Peterborough man has been arrested and charged with sexual assault and assault following an incident earlier in November.

On November 7, 2018 police received information regarding a sexual assault and assault that had occurred the night of November 3, 2018 while the accused and female victim were at a social gathering in Peterborough. The accused and victim know each other.

On November 7, 2018 officers located the accused at a Peterborough residence where, as a result of the investigation, he was placed under arrest.

Gregory Gordon Ellis, 55, of Talwood Court, is charged with the following:

  • Sexual assault
  • Assault

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on November 29, 2018.

Break and enter: Huntington Circle
The Peterborough Police Service is reminding resident to double-triple check to ensure doors and windows at their home are properly secured following a break-in to a Huntington Circle home.

Sometime between 1 p.m. and 8:15 p.m. on November 8, 2018 unknown person(s) entered the home through an unlocked rear door while the homeowner was away. Once inside items including two laptop computers, two purses and jewellery were stolen.
