Impaired driving/failure to stop at scene of accident arrest:
A 35-year-old Peterborough woman is facing charges including impaired driving following a single vehicle collision in late December.

At approximately 3:50 a.m. on December 29, 2018 police received a call regarding a vehicle that had struck a pole at Lansdowne Street and Monaghan Road then left the scene following the collision.

A short time later an officer located the vehicle heading east on Romaine Street. The officer conducted a traffic stop and while speaking with the driver of the vehicle noted an odour of an alcoholic beverage. A subsequent breath test revealed the driver had more than twice the legal limit of alcohol in her system while operating a motor vehicle.

As a result of the investigation Ashley Marie Potvin, 35, of Stenson Boulevard, was arrested and charged with the following:

  • Impaired driving
  • Drive over 80mgs
  • Failure to stop after accident

The accused was also served a 90 day automatic drivers licence suspension and a seven day vehicle impoundment.

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on January 17, 2019.
