Thursday January 10, 2019 – Frontenac County teen charged with sexual assault on a young person

Sexual assault arrest:

Following a police investigation a Frontenac County teen has been arrested and charged with sexual assault on a young person.

In November of 2018 the Peterborough Police Service received information regarding a sexual assault that took place in the Peterborough area in 2014. During the assault the accused also threatened the victim. At the time of the offence both the victim and the accused were young persons and knew each other.

On January 4, 2019 the accused, now 17 years old, attended the Peterborough Police station where, as a result of the investigation, he was arrested and charged with the following:

  • Sexual assault on a person under 16 years of age
  • Uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in a Peterborough court on January 21, 2019.

Under the Youth Criminal Justice Act the name of a young person cannot be released.

Assault with a weapon arrest:

A 54-year-old Peterborough man has been arrested and charged with assault following a Tuesday afternoon incident at a Charlotte Street bar.

On January 8, 2019 the victim was working at the bar when it was reported that the accused approached her and struck her with a canned beverage. During the incident the accused also threatened the victim then left the area. The accused and victim know each other.

On January 9, 2019 officers located the accused at a Peterborough residence.

As a result of the investigation Jeffrey Leon Dodds, 54, of Aylmer Street North, was arrested and charged with the following:

  • Assault with a weapon
  • Uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm
  • Breach of recognizance X2
  • Fail to comply with the conditions of an undertaking

The accused was held in custody and is scheduled to appear in court later today (Jan. 10).

Assault arrest:

The Peterborough Police Service has arrested and charged a 36-year-old Peterborough man with assault following a Wednesday evening dispute.

On the evening of January 9, 2019 the accused and male victim, who know each other, became involved in an argument outside a Peterborough residence. During the dispute it was reported that the accused assaulted the victim. The incident was reported to police and officers attended.

As a result of the investigation Ian Douglas Clark, 36, of Perry Street, was arrested and charged with assault.

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on January 29, 2019.

Break-in: Sherbrooke Street

The Peterborough Police Service is investigating following a break-in to a Sherbrooke Street residence.

Sometime between midnight on January 5, 2019 and 3:30 p.m. on January 7, 2019 unknown person(s) entered the residence through an unlocked door. Once inside the thieves stole items including a camera and camera equipment.
