Wednesday January 2, 2019 – Peterborough resident arrested and charged following convenience store robbery

Robbery Arrest:
A 20-year-old Peterborough woman has been arrested and charged following a robbery at a local convenience store.

At approximately 1:25 p.m. on December 29, 2018 two females entered a Parkhill Road East convenience store and approached the cash counter where they made a minimal purchase in order for the store employee to open the cash register.

Once the cash register was open one of the female suspects grabbed the cash register while the other female suspect sprayed the employee in the face with bear spray.

The two female suspects then fled the store with an unknown amount of cash.

Police were called and officers, along with the Canine Unit, were dispatched to the scene.

Through the investigation the suspects were identified. On December 30, 2018 officers attended a Peterborough residence where the first suspect was arrested and charged.

Autumn Elizabeth Nesbitt, 20, of no fixed address, Peterborough, is charged with the following:

  • Robbery with weapon
  • Assault with a weapon (bear spray)
  • Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose (bear spray)

The accused was held in custody and appeared in court on December 31, 2018.

A warrant has been issued for the arrest of the second female suspect. The investigation continues.

Public Assistance:
The Peterborough Police Service is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the driver of a large black vehicle that was involved in a collision with an E-bike.

The incident occurred on December 23, 2018 at approximately 6:30 p.m. in the area of Wolsely Street and Barnardo Avenue. The suspect vehicle is possibly either an SUV or pick-up truck.
