Break and enter Arrest:

A 42-year-old Peterborough man is facing charges including break and enter and criminal harassment following three incidents earlier in March.

On March 3, 2019 at approximately 2:30 a.m. an unknown male followed two unknown females from the downtown area to their residence. It was reported during this incident the male called the females derogatory names.

Later that same morning the unknown male attended the victim’s residence where he unlawfully entered uninvited in an attempt to look for the unknown females. The man was told to leave the residence.

At approximately 8 p.m. that evening the male again returned to the residence knocking on the door in search of the females.

The incidents were reported to police and offices attended the area. Through the investigation the male was identified.

On the afternoon of March 9, 2019 officers located the male suspect in the area of Bethune and Simcoe Streets.

As a result of the investigation Kurt Alistair Li, 42, of Hospital Drive, was arrested and charged with the following:

  • Break and enter
  • Criminal harassment
  • Fail to comply with a probation order

The accused appeared in weekend and statutory holiday court on March 10, 2019, was remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear again in court today (March 11).

Assault with a weapon Arrest:

A 25-year-old Peterborough man has been arrested and charged with assault with a weapon following an incident in a Peterborough parking lot.

Shortly after midnight on March 1, 2019 the male victim was getting into a vehicle parked in a Peterborough parking lot when an unknown male approached the victim and swung his backpack at the victim, striking the car door which in turn slammed shut onto the victim. The male suspect then left the area. Through the investigation the male suspect was identified.

On March 10, 2019 the male suspect attended the police station where, as a result of the investigation, he was placed under arrest.

Liam Edward Whiteside, 25, of Murray Street, was arrested and charged with the following:

  • Assault with a weapon (car door)
  • Fail to comply with a probation order

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on March 28, 2019.

Over 80mgs Arrest:

A call from a concerned citizen has led to the arrest of a 70-year-old Peterborough man for the charges of driving over 80mgs.

At approximately 11:55 p.m. on March 2, 2019 a witness observed a vehicle leaving a Lansdowne Street West parking lot and hitting two vehicles before heading east on Lansdowne Street. The witness contacted police and provided a description of the suspect vehicle.

Shortly after midnight on March 3, 2019 officers located the driver at a Peterborough residence. While speaking with the driver officers noted an odour of an alcoholic beverage from the driver’s breath.

A subsequent breath sample revealed the driver had more than twice the legal limit of alcohol in his system while operating a motor vehicle.

As a result of the investigation Gary Armstrong, 70, of Lansdowne Street West, was arrested and charged with operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration 80 plus.

The accused was also served an automatic 90 day drivers licence suspension and a seven day vehicle impoundment.

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on March 19, 2019
