Thursday March 7, 2019 – Two Peterborough residents arrested and charged with trespassing at night

Trespass at night arrest:

A call from a concerned citizen has led to the arrest of two Peterborough residents for trespassing at night.

On March 2, 2019 at approximately 1:50 a.m. police received a complaint from a concerned citizen regarding two suspicious persons on Cardinal Avenue that were walking up driveways and attempting to open doors of parked vehicles.

Officers located the suspicious male and female in the driveway of a Cardinal Avenue home where, as a result of the investigation, they were placed under arrest.

Robert Neilson Coleman, 41, of Cameron Street, Peterborough, is charged with trespassing at night. The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on March 12, 2019.

Katie-Lynne Hughes, 32, of Cameron Street, is charged with trespassing at night.

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on March 13, 2019.

Assault arrest:

A 17-year-old Peterborough teen is facing charges including assaulting a police officer and mischief following a Monday incident at a Peterborough office.

On March 4, 2019 police received a call for service regarding a youth that had attended an office of a Peterborough organization, threatened a staff member and was refusing to leave.

Officers attended and when advising the youth she had to leave the property the youth spat in the officer’s face and also spat on a staff member. During the incident damage was caused to a wall in the building.

As a result of the investigation the youth was arrested and charged with the following:

  • Assault
  • Assault a peace officer
  • Mischief under $5,000

While being transported in a police cruiser to the police station the youth spat several times inside the rear of the vehicle which subsequently required cleaning. The youth was additionally charged with mischief under $5,000.

The youth was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on March 25, 2019.

Under the Youth Criminal Justice Act the name of a young person cannot be released.

Assault arrest:

A 15-year-old Peterborough teen has been arrested and charged with assault following an incident at a local group home.

On the evening of March 5, 2019 police were called to a local group home regarding a youth that had assaulted two staff members.

Officers attended and as a result of the investigation the female youth was arrested and charged with assault X2.

The youth was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on March 25, 2019.

Under the Youth Criminal Justice Act the name of a young person cannot be released.
