Friday May 24, 2019 – Port Hope, Ontario man facing charges including aggravated assault, intimidation and procuring following investigation

Aggravated assault/procuring Arrest:

A 32-year-old Port Hope, Ontario man is facing charges including aggravated assault, intimidation and procuring following an investigation.

Sometime between April 26, 2019 and April 28, 2019 the accused attended a Peterborough residence where a dispute took place between the accused and male victim. The accused and victim know each other. As a result of the ongoing investigation, it was revealed that during the dispute the victim sustained a gunshot wound.

During the investigation it was also determined that in early May 2019 the accused had attempted to recruit a female victim as a sex trade worker and intimated the victim.

On May 23, 2019 at approximately 6:10 p.m. the accused was located in the area of Stewart Street. Members of the Peterborough Police Service’s Emergency Response Team executed the arrest of the accused with the assistance of the Service’s ICAD (Intelligence, Crime Analyst, Assess Forfeiture and Drug) Unit.

As a result of the investigation Jordan Jay Watkins, 32, of Pine Street, Port Hope, was arrested and charged with the following:

  • Aggravated assault
  • Procuring
  • Intimidation

The accused was held in custody and is scheduled to appear in court later today (May 24).

Over 80mgs Arrest:

The Peterborough Police Service has arrested and charged a 63-year-old Peterborough woman following a traffic stop.

Shortly before 1 a.m. on May 19, 2019 an officer on patrol saw a vehicle without headlights driving on Water Street.

The officer conducted a traffic stop and while speaking with the female driver noted an odour of an alcoholic beverage coming from the driver’s breath.

A further breath sample revealed the driver had almost double the legal amount of alcohol in her system while operating a motor vehicle.

As a result of the investigation Mary Jean Roblin, 63, of Whitaker Street, Peterborough, was arrested and charged with operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration 80 plus.

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on June 13, 2019.
