Possession of stolen property Arrest:

Two Peterborough men have been arrested and charged with possession of stolen property following a break-in at a George Street North store.

Between 6 p.m. on May 7, 2019 and 10:45 a.m. on May 8, 2019 a break and enter took place at a George Street North shop where a large quantity of clothing, watches and shoes were stolen.

On May 10, 2019 police conducted a search warrant at a Hunter Street West residence where officers located and seized a large amount of stolen property including items stolen from the George Street North incident.

During the search warrant officers located two males inside the residence who, as a result of the investigation, were arrested and charged.

Trevor Roderick Kotzma, 23, of Brock Street, Peterborough, is charged with the following:

  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
  • Fail to comply with a probation order

Jacob Ralph Moore, 22, of Hunter Street East, Peterborough, is charged with the following:

  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
  • Fail to comply with a probation order
  • Breach of recognizance

The co-accused were held in custody and appeared in court on May 11, 2019.

Sexual assault Arrest:

A 21-year-old Peterborough man has been charged with sexual assault following an investigation.

On May 11, 2019 police received information regarding a sexual assault that had occurred in April 2019. It was reported that while at a Peterborough residence the accused sexually assaulted the female victim. The accused and victim know each other.

As a result of the investigation on May 12, 2019 Robert Richard McKerness, 21, of Talwood Drive, was arrested and charged with the following:

  • Sexual assault
  • Fail to comply with a recognizance.

The accused was held in custody and appeared in court on May 12, 2019.

Drug Arrest:

A 33-year-old Peterborough man is facing drug charges after being in possession of cocaine, heroin and fentanyl following a motor vehicle collision investigation.

On May 11, 2019 at approximately 9:30 p.m. officers were dispatched to the corner of Hunter and Aylmer Streets for a two vehicle collision. As a result of the investigation one of the drivers was found to be in possession of an amount of cocaine and an amount of a heroin/fentanyl mixture.

Ryan Richard Demorest, 33, of St. Lukes Avenue, Peterborough, was arrested and charged with the following:

  • Possession of a schedule I substance (Heroin)
  • Possession of a schedule I substance (Fentanyl)
  • Possession of a schedule I substance (Cocaine)

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on June 11, 2019.

Operation while prohibited Arrest:

A 26-year-old Peterborough man is facing charges including stunt driving, speed and driving while disqualified following an incident in the Township of Cavan Monaghan.

On May 2, 2019 at approximately 12:15 p.m. an officer conducting traffic enforcement on Hayes Line in the Township of Cavan Monaghan saw a motor vehicle travelling approximately 50km/h over the posted speed limit of 40km/h.

The officer conducted a traffic stop and through further investigation it was revealed that the driver was a disqualified driver as well as a suspended driver.

As a result of the investigation Bradley Kyle Vienneau, 26, of Grady Avenue, Peterborough, was arrested and charged with the following:

  • Operation while prohibited
  • Driving while under suspension Highway Traffic Act
  • Speeding 50+km/h over posted limit Highway Traffic Act
  • Race a motor vehicle – excessive speed Highway Traffic Act

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on May 23, 2019.

Mischief under $5,000 Arrest:

The Peterborough Police Service has arrested and charged a 25-year-old Peterborough man with mischief after causing damage to the police station.

Shortly after 10 p.m. on May 10, 2019 a male attended the police station and threw rocks at the main entrance glass doors causing damage to the glass. The man then left the area.

On May 11, 2019 an officer observed the accused in the area of George Street North where, as a result of the investigation, he was arrested.

Tyler William Henderson, 25, of no fixed address, Peterborough, is charged with mischief.

The accused was held in custody and appeared in court on May 11, 2019.

Assault Arrest:

A 19-year-old Peterborough woman has been arrested and charged with assault following an altercation outside a Lansdowne Street West restaurant earlier in May.

On the evening of May 2, 2019 a verbal altercation amongst parties that know each other took place outside a Lansdowne Street West restaurant. It was reported that during the dispute the accused struck the male victim in the neck.

As a result of the investigation Hannah Mason, 19, of White Crescent, Peterborough, was arrested and charged with assault.

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on May 22, 2019.
