Sexual assault Arrest:
A 17-year-old Peterborough teen is facing charges including sexual assault and uttering threats following a weekend incident.
On May 25, 2019 police received a report of a sexual assault that had occurred during the early morning hours of May 25, 2019. It was reported that while out walking in the Peterborough area the accused had sexually assaulted, assaulted and threatened the victim. The accused and victim know each other.
On May 25, 2019 the accused attended the police station where, as a result of the investigation, he was arrested and charged with sexual assault, assault and uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm.
The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on June 17, 2019.
Under the Youth Criminal Justice Act the name of a young person cannot be released.
Impaired/Over 80mg Arrest:
A call from a concerned citizen has led to the arrest of a 33-year-old Peterborough man for charges including impaired driving.
On May 26, 2019 at approximately 11:30 p.m. police received a call for service regarding a man asleep in the driver’s seat of a vehicle in the area of Charlotte and Bethune Streets.
Officers arrived on scene and located the vehicle parked along Bethune Street and a male sleeping in the driver’s seat. While speaking with the driver officers noted an odour of an alcoholic beverage on the driver’s breath.
A subsequent breath test revealed the driver had more than three times the legal limit of alcohol in his system while operating a motor vehicle.
As a result of the investigation Matthew Drewes, 33, of Park Street North, Peterborough, was arrested and charged with the following:
- Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
- Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration 80 plus
The accused was issued an automatic 90 day drivers licence suspension and seven day vehicle impoundment.
The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on June 18, 2019.
Assault with a weapon Arrest:
The Peterborough Police have arrested and charged a 26-year-old Peterborough man with assault and assault with a weapon following a weekend incident at a downtown bar.
At approximately 2:30 a.m. on May 25, 2019 police were called to a Hunter Street West bar for a disturbance. When officers arrived on scene it was reported that while at the establishment the accused had struck another bar patron in the face with a glass beer mug. When a staff member attempted to intervene the accused then struck the employee in the face.
As a result of the investigation Terrance McLean Watson, 26, of no fixed address, Peterborough, was arrested and charged with the following:
- Assault with a weapon
The accused appeared in weekend and statutory holiday court on May 25, 2019, was released from custody and is scheduled to appear again in court on June 6, 2019.
Assault peace officer Arrest:
A 25-year-old Peterborough man has been arrested and charged with assaulting a police officer and resisting arrest following a Saturday night incident.
On May 25, 2019 at approximately 9:42 p.m. police attended a bank vestibule on George Street North to assist EMS with a male. During the interaction the male spat on an officer. While attempting to place the male under arrest the male resisted police.
As a result of the investigation Tyler William Henderson, 25, of no fixed address, Peterborough, was arrested and charged with the following:
- Assault peace officer
- Resist peace officer
The accused appeared in weekend and statutory holiday court on May 26, 2019, was released from custody and is scheduled to appear again in court on June 12, 2019.
Break-in: Romaine Street
The Peterborough Police Service is asking anyone with information to come forward following a break-in at a Romaine Street home.
Sometime between 10:50 a.m. and approximately 4 p.m. on May 23, 2019 unknown person(s) broke into a Romaine Street residence while the homeowner was away. Once inside the residence several thieves stole several items including a PlayStation and a MacBook Pro.
