Thursday June 6, 2019 – Traffic stop leads to arrest of Peterborough man for charges including possessing Fentanyl for the purpose of trafficking

Drug Arrest:

A 40-year-old Peterborough man is facing charges including possessing Fentanyl and cocaine for the purpose of trafficking following a Wednesday afternoon traffic stop in the City.

As a result of an ongoing investigation at approximately 3:20 p.m. on June 5, 2019 officers conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle in the area of Edinburgh and Aylmer Streets. The accused was located inside the vehicle along with a large quantity of cash, cocaine and Fentanyl and stolen property including a wallet and passport.

As a result of the investigation Cory John Bulger, 40, of no fixed address, Peterborough, was arrested and charged with the following:

  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking (Fentanyl)
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking (Cocaine)
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000
  • Fail to comply with a probation order

The accused was held in custody and is scheduled to appear in court later today (June 6).

Warrant Arrest:

The Peterborough Police Service has arrested a 36-year-old Peterborough man on a warrant for charges including break and enter, forcible confinement and uttering threats following a domestic incident.

The accused is currently on conditions stemming from a previous domestic incident to remain away from the female victim. On May 25, 2019 the victim returned home to find the accused in her residence. The accused threatened the victim then left the residence.

Police were called and attended. A warrant was issued for the arrest of the accused. On June 4, 2019 officers located the accused riding a bicycle in the area of Aylmer Street where he was arrested on the warrant. While attempting to place the accused under arrest the accused resisted. During the search incident to arrest an amount of methamphetamine was located on the accused. Further, it was determined the bicycle the accused was riding was stolen.

The accused is charged with the following:

  • Break, enter and commit
  • Uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm
  • Breach of probation
  • Resist peace officer
  • Possession of a schedule I substance (methamphetamine)
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000

The accused was held in custody and appeared in court on June 4, 2019.

In order to protect the identity of the victim in this domestic incident the name of the accused will not be released.

Assault/forcible confinement Arrest:

A 22-year-old Peterborough man has been arrested and charged following a Wednesday night domestic incident.

On June 5, 2019 police attended a Peterborough residence for a domestic incident. It was reported that while at the residence the accused had assaulted the female victim and prevented her from leaving the residence. During the incident the accused threatened the victim’s father.

Police attended the residence where, as a result of the investigation, the accused was arrested and charged with domestic assault, forcible confinement and uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm.

The accused was held in custody and is scheduled to appear in court later today (June 6).

In order to protect the identity of the victim in this domestic incident the name of the accused will not be released.

Theft:

The Peterborough Police Service is asking anyone with information to come forward following thefts from vehicles and from outside a residence.

Sometime between 6:30 p.m. on June 4, 2019 and 7 a.m. on June 5, 2019 unknown person(s) entered a locked vehicle parked at a Glencairn Avenue residence. Once inside the vehicle the person(s) stole items including sunglasses, wallet and a cell phone.

Between 10:30 p.m. on June 4, 2019 and 7 a.m. on June 5, 2019 thieves stole patio furniture from the side carport of a Stickland Street residence in the Village of Lakefield.

Sometime between 6 p.m. on June 4, 2019 and 9 a.m. on June 5, 2019 unknown person(s) entered a locked vehicle parked at a Westbrook Drive residence and once inside stole loose change and a cordless drill.
