Friday July 12, 2019 – Police continue to search for two suspects following shooting in area of Edison Avenue

Ongoing Investigation:

The Peterborough Police Service continues to search for two male suspects following a shooting in the area of Edison Avenue.

On Tuesday July 9, 2019 at approximately 11:30 p.m. officers were dispatched to the area of Edison Avenue for a shooting.

It was reported that two unknown males had attended outside an Edison Avenue residence where an altercation occurred. During the incident a woman was assaulted and a male sustained a gunshot wound. Following the incident the two suspects fled the area. Both victims were taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The male suspects are described as follows:

Suspect #1:

  • Caucasian
  • Male
  • Approximately 6’2”
  • Thin build
  • Wearing a grey hoodie and grey track pants

Suspect #2

  • Caucasian
  • Male
  • Approximately 5’9” to 5’10”
  • Also wearing a hoodie

Drug Arrest:

A 48-year-old Peterborough man is facing charges including possession of cocaine and Oxycontin for the purpose of trafficking following a Wednesday afternoon traffic stop.

At approximately 2:50 p.m. on July 10, 2019 officers conducted a traffic stop of a suspended driver in the area of Stewart and Rink Streets. As a result of the stop, the driver was arrested under the Highway Traffic act with drive while under suspension.

Through further investigation the driver was found to be in possession of a quantity of crack cocaine, Oxycontin pills, a large quantity of Canadian currency and drug paraphernalia.

As a result of the investigation Myung Kyun Kwak, 48, of no fixed address, Peterborough, was arrested and charged with the following:

  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking (Oxycontin)
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking (Cocaine)
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
  • Driving while under suspension (Highway Traffic Act)

The accused was held in custody and appeared in court on July 11, 2019.

Theft of motor vehicle Arrest:

The Peterborough Police Service has arrested and charged a 37-year-old Oshawa woman after a vehicle was stolen from a local parking lot.

On July 9, 2019 at approximately noon hour the victim parked his vehicle in a McDonnel Street parking lot leaving the keys in the ignition and the vehicle unlocked in order to attend a local store. When the victim returned the vehicle had been stolen. The incident was reported to police and officers attended.

While officers were on route the victim saw an unknown female driving his vehicle in the area of Donegal and McDonnel Streets.

Police located the vehicle and female suspect a short time later in the area of Brock and Rubidge Streets.

As a result of the investigation Susan Marie Hannah, 37, of Bloor Street, East, Oshawa, was arrested and charged with the following:

  • Theft of motor vehicle
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
  • Fail to comply with a probation order

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on July 24, 2019.

Mischief Arrest:

A 34-year-old Peterborough woman has been arrested and charged with mischief following an early morning incident at an Edinburgh Street residence.

On July 12, 2019 at approximately 5:10 a.m. the victim heard a noise in his backyard and when he went to investigate the noise he found an unknown female on his deck. The female left the area and police were contacted. When officers arrived it was reported that damage had been caused to items on the victim’s deck.

A short time later officers located the female suspect in the area of Edinburgh Street. As a result of the investigation Allison Lynn Kay, 34, of no fixed address, Peterborough, was arrested and charged with mischief.

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on July 31, 2019.

Possession of stolen property Arrest:

A 34-year-old Peterborough man is facing an additional charge of possession of stolen property following a break-in and theft of jewellery from a Lakefield home.

Sometime between 8:15 a.m. and 9 a.m. on July 8, 2019 an unknown person broke into a Lakefield residence and stole an amount of jewellery. The incident was reported to police and officers investigated.

On July 9, 2019 the accused was arrested in a Lakefield parking lot in relation to another incident. (original media release).

Through the investigation the accused was found to be in possession of the stolen jewellery.

As a result of the investigation Dustin Bradley Barnett, 34, of no fixed address, Peterborough, was additionally a charged with possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.

The accused is scheduled to attend court on July 17, 2019.
